Hi, I just Googled this show after I read about it in TV Tropes & there seems to be lack any discussion about this show on the Internet outside of this site. I thought a show like this where it seems to be at least to be recognized enough in the mainstream that the lead actress won the best actress award should at least have more people talk about it? Seems weird. Even some obscure gender bender manga have more people talking about it.

I agree Ziggy. I checked a Reader's Guide for periodic literature back when the several Lalola series were current and hot abroad. There was not one citation of any of the series in any of the English language periodicals indexed there.

I think the vast majority of my fellow English speakers are very resistant to anything that comes in a foreign language. I mean, if it comes in a foreign language, they're not even interested in pressing for an English dubbing. They act like it doesn't exist. But foreign producers are also to blame. Out of a dozen nations that have done Lalola versions, not one of them has made any effort to make their series assailable to English speakers, though most of them have traditions of doing dubbed versions for English markets. Like, Russia is becoming an active entertainment production center, but though they did MARGOSHA DVDs, they apparently never put English dubbing or even subtitles on them. If foreign producers are not going to make some effort to get the English market, they are not going to get that market.

TV Azteca in Mexico announced that it bought the Lalola series for original production in April 2018 and made reference to the series being being produced by the end of the year. But here we are. Anyone hear anything new regarding this?

April 2018 Announcement

Azteca did air the Argentine series in 2008-9 in its entirety, so it seems odd that they would do a complete remake of it 10 years later.
