Comment: Baldurs Gate 2, "Cursed Girdle and Nether Scroll"
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Gender
The cursed girdle of gender (or of masculinity/femininity) can be obtained in this game. (Only by using a cheat) Which when worn switches the gender of it's owner, and cannot be removed/reversed unless casted with a remove curse spell or the character is killed. Also there is a side quest in the ...more

is the girdle in the PS2 baldur gate game or is it exclusive to this pc version?

From: Matt* , 243 months, post #2
It's only in the PC one Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn

I noticed that Imoen's belt looks just like the girdle of gender. is there some kind of connection there?

From: Matt* , 243 months, post #4
Nope - I guess the people who made the game were just too lazy to draw a new belt design....

Where in the game is it?

I can direct you to the Nether Scroll (which transforms Edwin from male to female). In the docks district you will receive a quest from Renal Bloodscalp. He wishes you to provide proof that the underling Malvaer plans to usurp Renal.
Go to Malvaer's building (as directed by Renal) and perform his tasks (you are an undercover agent pretending to work for Malvaer at this point). Upon completing the tasks and defeating Malvaer you will be provided an opportunity for Edwin to join your party. He will ask for assistance in locating the Nether scroll.
Aid Edwin in finding the Nether Scroll. Allow him to keep it and keep him in your party for a few days. Eventually he will start understanding the scroll. Encourage him to work at it. Eventually he will cast the spell and transform. Edwin's body and voice change, but not his profile. His comments are entertaining.
NOTE: If you do this go to the copper coronet and talk to Salvanas. Just save the game before you do so because Salvanas' advances on Edwin send him/her over the top.

Thank you. That was great! I enjoyed the teasing Edwin got too. Where is the Girdle of Gender?

From: Lost* , 242 months, post #8
Anybody know where that cursed Girdle of Gender is? I'm up to Chapter Five and still haven't found it yet.

From: Rahal Stmin* , 242 months, post #9
The Girdle of Gender doesn't make an appearance in BG2, It's in the first one, although if you use the item creation cheat, you can make it appear. In the first BG, an ogre has it and he's in the area before the inn you meet Khalid and Jaheira in. In fact, someone at that inn will even give you a quest to get their girdle back from him. Guess he likes girdles for some reason.

yea the only way to get the Girdle of Gender in BG2 is to use a cheat

From: Lost* , 242 months, post #11
Ah, it all comes together! I thank you.Mwahahahahahahahah!

From: JayGee* , 241 months, post #12
OK, I was at the Friendly Arms in. I met Khalid and Jaheira. I was all over the area to the south of the inn, and I never found it. Could someone be more specific as to where? And also, is there something you need to do or not do before you can find the ogre. I'm very interested in messing with my charecter's heads and bodies.

You can cheat your way to getting it if you can't find it. I can't remember the exact way of doing it, but you can enable a cheat console and spawn as many girdles as you want. Just check out Gamefaqs; it should be there somewhere (assuming you're using the PC version).

There is a very good Edwin Romance mod out there, this is one of the plots improved by it.
