Masashi - I want to make sure that I completely understand the
issue entries for this series.
I found 5 of them listed in the database... there are two "issue
unknown" listings (entry id's 6810 and 6829)... Are either or both
of these unknown issues the same as Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and/or Vol. 3
???
I am unable to determine which episode, as they almost seem to,
perhaps describe the entire series of that comic title.
This isn't a title that I'm familiar with - so any help would be
appreciated.
I did, however, create an entry for the series Bakeru-kun
so that the issues can be listed under one entry and separately...
like television shows & episodes.

Yes, the two "unknown" postings are identical with Justin's
detailed postings of volumes 1-3. The current compilation is three
volumes long on Shogakukan press.
Gavin and "anonymous" saw the title listed on some secondary
sources. Both admit they haven't seen the manga. Justin made his
posts after reading the manga volumes, and even includes their
isbns.
Essentially, the two "unknown" posts say "I heard there's a manga
with some TFs." They could be deleted with no loss of information.
Consolidating the 5 posts as you have done under one title works
nicely to eliminate the multiple postings, too.
Fujiko F Fujio is the pen-name for the pair of mangakas (Fujimoto
Hiroshi and Abiko Motoo) who created Doraemon and other classic
manga.

BTW, "Bakeru-kun" is a short "minor work" and currently is not
listed on the English Wikipedia page, although it is listed on the
Japanese page for Fujiko F Fujio and even has its own Wikipedia
page (alas, no images):
[EDIT -- could not make a link to Wikipedia Japan.

Trying again. Here is the Wikipedia Japan article on Fujiko F

In the unknown entry entryid=6829
there are two links. I can't read them (in Japanese, and one link
may be dead) where should they be placed?
I've marked the two unknown entries for deletion.

I'm guessing that the first link is to something at the Electric
Morph Gallery (at his old url) -- perhaps the small image at that
site. Here's the current url to all of EMG's favorite manga:
http://www.geocities.co.jp/AnimeComic-Cell/3112/myfavorit/00myfavorit4.html
As for the second link, that must have been to this image at
Farhad's website (but at his old url):
http://tgmanga.free.fr/mangalist/bakeru2_p.jpg
Here is the url to Farhad's manga list of "B" titles. He has three
pages from the three volumes.

Thank you for the information Masashi. I would like to add that the
three volumes I have reviewed were in fact color editions and do
not represent the complete collection of Bakeru-kun stories.
Strangely enough, the non-colorized stories consist of a mere two
volumes, but do contain more chapters. Furthermore, there was at
least one crossover story in Doraemon volume 9 (ISBN4-09-140009-4),
which may have even become an episode on the Doraemon cartoon or
one of the movies. There is in fact a live action Bakeru-kun movie
starring Hatada Rie, but other than that I can not provide any more
information. Masashi, if you have the time, could you look into it?

Then they aren't the same as the 3 b&w volumes at Farhad's
site?

How strange. I did see lists of 3 vol. / 2 vol. printings, but
assumed it was just the difference between tankoban and bunkoban
printings.
> Masashi, if you have the time, could you look into it?
If I come across any info, I'll report it here -- but don't hold
your breath. :D
I haven't actually seen the manga, myself, though it's been
somewhere on my "find" list for a long time.
Justin: Thanks for your reviews and this info!

I have come across one japanese website that provides a little
information about the various stories, but even with babelfish it
comes across as very garbled. For those who read japanese and may
be interested you can check out the following link:

Farhad's scans must be from the 3-vol. set from 1988 with all 47
stories.
Thanks again, Justin!

Found someone who auctioned a tape of the live-action film in
December. Nice picture.

There are three extended clips on youtube from the user account of
"hebox2" of this live action Bakeru-kun. Looks like they made a
number of changes to the story, starting with changing the
protagonist from a pre-teen boy to a teenage girl.
Remember, we're not supposed to provide direct links to youtube, so
go to youtube, type "hebox2" into the search engine, click on the
link that then says "hebox2" then search the recent submissions in
"videos". Again, keep in mind there are three clips, so look for
those numbered 1, 2 & 3.
There are definite transformations here, mostly of the girl turning
into four other people including a middle-aged man, (f2m age
progression) and the male alien appearing in all four forms
including a middle aged woman and a pretty girl in her late teens.
The best thing I can say about these clips is I like the low budget
transformations. They switch bodies by pressing the dolls nose,
doing an acrobatic jump in the air, and then land in a full grown
version of the doll.

Sorry for the massive necro, but did the three volume set ever turn
up anywhere? Any scans I’ve seen are from the two volume set.
The live action clips also seems to be gone from the web entirely.
Would’ve liked to see the whole thing, but those VHS prices are
getting crazy.

Are you really sure there is a Volume 3? Mangarock says that it
'ENDs' at Volume 2.
|
From: guest
, 57 months, post #20 |
I’ve purchased both the colorized 3 volume set and the
non-colorized 2 volume set, which does have additional stories not
depicted in the scanlations. Mangarock simply doesn’t have access
to the complete stories.
