Review: Hank Stine book Season Of The Witch
Hank Stine book Season Of The Witch
Gender
As punishment, a rapist is put in the body of his victim and left to get on with his life.
From: Ron , 660 months, post #1
Superb and vivid exploration of what the male protagonist goes through as he wakes up in a woman's body and then must live in it. Author makes tale more personal and evocative by telling the middle of the story in the second person. (which also avoids the usual challenge of deciding which pronouns to use.) Story does suffer from 1960s mindset on politics, drugs, sex and nuclear war and comes across as more dated than other books from the same era.

(Paul's blurb, and the back of the paperback, describe the protagonist as a "rapist." Actually he's more a tormented gigolo who kills his lover in a drugged stupor. He doesn't rape anyone.)

I'll echo Ron's comments: An excellent read. Very, very erotic, especially for those of us who love TG. Psychologically fascinating. Recommended.

This book was made into the motion picture, "SYNAPSE". Very good book
and movie.

By the way, Hank Stine is now "Jean-Marie Stine". Yep, s/he went under the knife, which kind of gives you an idea why this novel was written, no?

Literary catfight, anyone? In my professional capacity, I have secured galley proofs to S. Vance's new novel, WALPURGIS NIGHT, to be published later this year, and in it a psychically superpowerful young boy watches a movie called 'Cranium' ('Synapse', get it?) and is so pissed by the fact that the hero/heroine is trapped in a female form that he takes supernatural vengenance on both the author and the lead actress, 'Bridget Claney' (a bit like Karen Duffy, don't you think?). Oh, what fun! It certainly doesn't pay to cross Stephen Vance. "Misery', indeed! DSF

a movie called "Memory Run" is also based on this book. Mediocre movie at best.

Heartfelt, earnest, and sincere. Good book; it is currently available as a download direct from the authour.

At $4.00, it's a steal. Happy reading.
