Review: Octavia E. Butler book Wild Seed
Octavia E. Butler book Wild Seed
Gender
A man and woman exchange sex's. Brief, at end.

Just a few corrections.

1) the Male persona (the dark character) is the only one that uses up the host (the host persona dies). While the male character [Doro "leaps" from body to body, the female character only takes charateristics then transforms her own body.

2) Wild Seed isn't the only book about Doro and his traveling or his involvement with the female shape shifter. Check out: Mind of my Mind Pattern Master Clay's Ark

This series of stories following the "immortal" Doro and his "children" are fascinating and very on the TG topic. But be warned, it also deals with shape shifting into things other than human and sexual roles that adhere. All in all an amazing story and I highly recommend it!

This book is written by a SF writer (and quite a good one) who happens to be both female and black. Such a rare combination makes for quite an exotic storyline. I won't give away much, other than to say the male lead is an immortal, almost a "vampire-like" creature who is walking the earth searching out those born with the "gift" - you will have to read it to understand... but the TG theme is this: both he and others (including the heroine - a likable sort - a healer - light where the hero is dark)) have a need to absorb characteristics from others, and in doing so, adapt that body for time. The soul is released, so that person dies! Not many volunteers, you would think (you would be wrong). This means the immortal beings OFTEN switch gender, although it isn't that common in the storyline. I recommend reading this great, complicated, mysical book for reasons other than the TG possibilities. You will be mesmerized - or at least I was. Caution! It is VERY long in wordage - many chapters (many lifes, many
locations).
