This is one of the last good books in the Xanth series, at least
acting on the principle that the first ten Piers Anthony books you
read are good, and everything after that is just dull. The TG scene
is very rated G, and is shockingly lacking depth, even for Piers
Anthony.
On the other hand, it's described in some detail, and lasts far
longer than the average TG scene in books. It has little to do with
the plot, despite Anthony's effort to make it seem relevant. You'll
have fun with it, but I reiterate: don't expect a great deal out of
it.

That principle needs updating. Even one or two Xanth books is
agonizing... though, I will admit, there is a distinct drop in
quality as you go on.

As a teen I liked the Xanth books (then later moved onto the myth
books before maturing to enjoying discworld books). I remember the
cruel lye Tf well and it's bobbling bouncing parts (It has SOME
detail, just not much).
Though the humor is a bit lame at times (I DO appreciate a good
pun, but xanth goes more for quality than quantity). I do remember
enjoying Xanth books at that age, until the point where Piers
Anthony became obsessed with the theme of "Kids vs the adult
conspiracy". He lost my interest when book after book got churned
out with that theme.
