The idea sounds straightforward enough: Man's soul is put into a woman after he's executed. But instead, it's more as if he's a ghost hovering somewhere close by and she's just haunted by him. He ends up CONTOLLING her... giving her ORDERS... and SENDING her on a quest for revenge, rather than doing anything AS her.

....At one point she even picks up his severed head and he speaks to her! So much for him even leaving his own body, much less ending up in hers!

The murky plot all folds into some fairly typical Hammer B-movie fare.

Well produced film, extremely well acted by most of the principles - espedcially the great Peter cushing & thorley Waters as his Dr. Watson type. The gilintine is the cnter point of the imagery - the beginning, middle & end. Well Directed by Fisher.

The TG part is vague, but I think it is implied that the man's soul at first has no memory of its pervious life, but still has its own characteristics - hot tempered & not submissive the way the girl was. When the man's spirit realized it is in his girl friends body - the former boyfriend can not accept it & goes mad killing those who tortmented her & blamed him for the murder. The character was puritanitcal & can not accpet that his soul is now in a woman's - indeed his X lovers body & so hides the truth sometimes even from themselves.

Well for an old movie is was not bad but the TG element was very poor at best. A mans soul was put in womans body but it was her mind so it was kind of unclear as to the person was in the body. Her lover appeared to be in her body but he was telling her what to do rather than being in control.
