Comment: Books of Magic, "The Closing: Being Mr Wrong"
Books of Magic #74
Gender
Tim uses the glamour stone to make himself look like Molly in order to meet his evil counterpart. At he end of the story it's revealed Lord Auberon has been in disguise as a woman for the last few issues, even using the glamour stone to make himself look like Tim's mother a few issues ago.

Should point out that Tim Hunter predates the suspiciously similar Harry Potter, glasses, owl and all...

Strictly speaking, all the TFs mentioned in this series are really glamours. Actual transformations include future Tim ('Mr Wrong') to dragon, and archangel to chocolate!

Predates? Are you sure? I have Harry Potter Book 2 here and it says first American printing June 1999, which is before the (c) 2000 listed above.

The first graphic novel from "The Books of Magic" series was printed by DC Comics on April 14, 1993. That predates Potter by 5 years (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone [Book 1 was first published by Scholastic in September of 1998).

yup, jk rowling could have ripped tim hunter off but i dont think she ever read books of magic, and besides, tim is about 20 now....

SPOILERS

btw there is a little homage to harry potter in the last issue of books of magic, when Cyril turns himself into Tim and goes to get on a train to take him to a magical school

There was a lawsuit from another "author" who claimed her book in the 80's had similar themes. I think the lawsuit failed though.

Maybe DC should try!

Considering Time/Warner owns the film rights to Harry Potter, and they own DC, I doubt they would bother. That's part of the reason that Tim was aged for his latest series. To distance him from Harry Potter.
Besides, Neil Gaiman has stated that he doubts Rowling had ever heard of Tim Hunter. He attributes the simularities to the fact that both authors share the same cultural background(ie. British).

this a'nt a harry potter fansite

well no... but that doesnt mean we cant have a nice convosation does it????

anyway as i was saying, potter sucks and tim rules, yet there simularites would probably due to coincidence
