Review: Lizzie McGuire episode Those Freaky McGuires
Lizzie McGuire episode Those Freaky McGuires
Gender
Lizzie and younger brother Matt swap bodies in this live action Disney show! NOTE This episode may be shown on friday in the final week of June or a bit later (July???) as Disney has scheduled a contest for voting online between this and another episode to be shown first.

The episode is called "Those Freaky McGuires". The McGuire Household goes topsy-turvy when Lizzie and Matt switch bodies.

Pretty funny the actress playing Lizzie has a great time playing the bro in her body! She hamns it up just like a 10y would. dresses outrageously & is always playing down wearing high platforms & destroys a snotty enemy of Lissie. Lissie in her brother body also solves a problem for him. At no time does either one not want to swap back.

SPOILER. Not bad for the age group it's aimed at, but the final lines spoken by the girl reveal that it's all been a dream. Yeh, another one of those cop-outs.

To daydreamer, I think you missed what really happened in the end. They both decided to pretend it didn't & not talk about it as it was too embarresing. Rememeber they are hugging & they never hug and both woke up at the same time. The girl even says something like - 'well if that's the way you want to play it I'm going to do so to" to her brother.

spoilers below

the switch lasts for the entire show, starting in the opener and ending a minute or so before the story ends!

Despite the usual restrictions from Disney's censors, this episode was very enjoyable.

Both actors seemed to relish the opportunity to portray their fictional siblings as much as their fictional characters take charge of their day as the other sibling!

Matt clearly enjoyed being a girl! By my count, Matt changed his outfit five times and his earrings at least once. He tried on two wigs and had some fun with feminine longer hair. He apparently put on lipstick or lip gloss, and tried to immitate his sister's style, though he lacked her slightly more mature taste in clothing.

His sister tried to 'fix' her brother's hairstyle and outfit, looking like a studious 'nerd'. She doesn't fool his best friends, but manages to get him out of an undeserved detention with her quick mind! She seems to miss her body more than matt misses his, though this might be due to their respective ages and maturity.

Matt seems to be better than Lizzie at social skills (as was also shown in a prior episode when he took the wrong bus and pretended to be a new student at her school.)

It may simply be that the writers were writing for the lead actress of the show and made her as matt work better as a teen since the actess can act better than the younger boy but both actors delivered an enjoyable performance!

It was nice to see two characters make the best of their situation when faced with life-altering magic!

Eric is right about the ending. They clearly wake up knowing what happened and agree to forget it ever happened. But it 'DID' happen! It was NOT a dream according to Lizzie at the end. I can see where one might get that impression since Matt doesn't appear to acknowledge it in response to his sister; however, he does wake up upon switching back and seems happy to be back in his own bod once again!

I bet he misses those platform shoes even though he fell off them several times! And I wouldn't be surprised if he someday gets an earring if the show goes on for a while. He sure didn't mind trying on his sisters!

Lizzie on the other hand was very happy to be back to 'normal'!

Outside of the lack of sex differences being noted, I would rate this as one of the best Tv TG bodyswaps seen on Tv!

If only they had made it into a 'made for TV' movie! another 90 minutes could only be better from the talented writers and actors who produced this episode!

I give it an A (for a G rated show)
and recommend everyone watch it!

YAAWWNN. Call me jaded, but this did nothing for me.

This episode had a lot of potential which I believe was squandered. Maybe it's because it's a Disney show, but you get to wondering how they deal with their respective....genetles. I mean "Matt" changes at least 5 times obviously he saw Lizzy's....well, you get the idea.

Sorry, the dream explanation stands. Disney replayed this show today, so I paid special attention to the ending. When the sister awakens as herself (following the supposed "retransformation"), she calls the brother and then rushes into the hallway. When he comes, she grabs him in a bearhug, and his only (muffled) response is to ask, "Why are you hugging me?" Moments later, when the girl asks him if "it" really happened, he never gives any indication at all of understanding what she's saying. His reply is, "Did what really happen?" That's it, folks, the boy knew nothing at all about the alleged swapping. If the show had gone on to reveal that a day had passed and those wild things had taken place at school, there would be no doubt, but it ended right there in the hall without any sign at all from the boy that he had undergone anything but another night's sleep. Once again, sorry, no transformation, only a dream. But it was a cute show and the girl is quite a looker.

this was a great tg. Like some have said, Matt seemed to enjoy it more than Lizzie did. i wonder if matt did any "exploration" while changing. For a Disney show it wasn't bad. Definately would of been a great movie. Lizzie is really hot as matt points out "you whear your clothes a little too tight

From: annonymous , 251 months, post #10
it was a good episode
Annonymous Bob you are a sick mof**ker
that would be disgusting to get horny off ur sister's body.

From: GD , 251 months, post #11
I'll add my two cents on Lizzie's hotness. She's insanely pretty/sexy, take your pick (notwithstanding a moron like "annonymous" that tries to turn this into some kind of incest debate...!?). Anyway as for the ending, I think Daydreamer is right about it being a dream. Cute episode, especially for Disney.

Very good...definetly a must see. Made for younger crowd, and may be hard to see because it is now an older show.

To those who doubt of the brother thinking anything really happened, think of it this way.

A young boy just spent a day and night in his sister's body wearing her underwear, clothing, makeup and even her wigs and high heeled shoes. (Why she had so many wigs, I don't know!) He was able to pass himself off as both his sister and as a girl to everyone he met that day. He probably spent some of the (non-disney channel portion of the day ;) time doing some 'biological research' he wouldn't want anyone to know about. So when he wakes up and has his own body back he runs out in glee, but almost immediately knows that acknowledging any of it would mean he was a bit less of a man for a day. (He LOVED the high heeled shoes!) Also, he knew only his sister would believe and accept what happened, so it was better to never mention it. As a bonus he knew it would confuse and rattle his sister to deny anything had happened! (And he also LOVES to prank his sister all the time!) So he does just that. Deny deny deny.

He is quite smart enough (as portrayed on the show) to figure all that out and simply say 'did what happen' to his sister. And he is enough of a liar to be believable doing so.

Case closed.

Best teen bodyswap ever!
