Urusei Yatsura episode I Dearly Need You! Return of the Honest Fox! #134
Animal
It's the episode in which Fox first sees a movie in which a fox changes loving woman into a vixen, then uses the magic seeds to change Shinobu. But he lost the seeds and instead, all the shows heroes (including Ataru, Lum, Cherry) changes into foxes, then half-foxes. Its corresponding manga is # ...more

Are you going to upload the screenshots?

From: Lady Sekhmet , 220 months, post #2
Kitsune is going to go crazy when he see's all those screenshots :)

Anyone have an idea of which of the 11 DVD's this episode was released on?

How well you know me. ^_^
Those screenshots look wonderful Inry. Thank you so much. I would like to know what DVD it is on too. I would buy the DVD right now, but the local Anime Shop just went out of business... T_T

As I've always said, turning into a fox is second only to turning into a horse!

Yummy. So which DVD is this on?

By the way, I think horses butts are cuter than foxes, but no matter. I want to get this DVD. haha

Questions about this episode:

1. Do we ever see Lum become a half fox after becoming a fox?
2. How did all the other people become half foxes?
3. How does this episode rate as an episode of Urusei Yatsura?
4. How do the show's heroes react to being changed into foxes?

From: guest (Necron 99) , 214 months, post #7
It's me again. I'm the same poster who asked the four questions about the episode. I forgot to include my nickname when I previously posted.

By the way, to those of you who were wondering, the episode is on Urusei Yatsura TV DVD 34 (episodes 133-136). It is titled "I Miss You So Much, I Could Die! The Return of the Pure-Hearted Fox!"

I might as well this question too.

5. Why do the characters become half foxes?

From: guest (Necron 99) , 213 months, post #9
6. Why don't Cherry and Kotatsu-Neko become half-foxes?

From: guest (Killer Lovebird) , 212 months, post #10
This episode was horrible! Why did Lum have to become a fox?! She doesn't need to be made any foxier than she already is for crying out loud!!! Watching her become a fox made me feel physically ill! Couldn't they have made a different episode instead of this one? The manga version of this episode was every bit as terrible! Extremely predictable! The cover art of the manga version gave away the ending! >:(

The Very Official Killer Lovebird Rating for "I Dearly Need You! Return of the Honest Fox" is... -11/10

Yes, this is THE worst episode of "Urusei Yatsura" ever made. Even dead people know what's going to happen in this episode before it happens. This fetid piece of tripe isn't worth your time.

>>>"This fetid piece of tripe isn't worth your time."

Sir, that is impossible as my time is worthless.

"Even dead people know what's going to happen in this episode before it happens."

Although your posts were a little aggressive, I do have to agree with you there. lol

And yes, I do think that they should have picked a different manga story to adapt into an episode. This is one of the weaker episodes, with its predictable stroyline and mediocre animation and character designs (compared to some of the other episodes). Since we already know that they're all going to end up eating the seeds, all humor is lost when they finally do.

"Why did Lum have to become a fox?! She doesn't need to be made any foxier than she already is for crying out loud!!! Watching her become a fox made me feel physically ill!"

As far as I know, Lum is already a fox (and always has been). So, yeah, having her eat the seeds is rather unnecessary. ;)

Personally, if I were doing this episode, I would have rather had Ataru and Lum being among the few people in Tomobiki who don't eat the seeds. I think it would be funny to see how Ataru would react to Shinobu transforming into a fox. However, I would not make the episode focus too much on Ataru and Lum. I would still have Shinobu turn into a fox. That way, Kitsune (the fox who is in love with Shinobu) gets his wish. I would also have Cherry and Kotatsu-Neko change into foxes, because they're the ones responsible for cooking the seeds and thus must suffer the consequences for giving Shinobu the stew. Besides, Cherry deserves it for being such an annoying pest. Consider it poetic justice. :D

I apologise for my aggressive posts. It's that I couldn't stand seeing Lum become a fox. I've developed an attraction to her, having seen such episodes as "Pitter Patter Christmas Eve" and "After You've Gone". I think I may like her a little too much.

P.S.

BTW, I like your idea of doing this episode, Korgis. :)

Adding to my previous post:

I have found Lum to be one of the few sympathetic characters in the series. Much of it has to do with the fact that she's constantly being taken advantage of by Ataru. She's very innocent and adorable. That's why I didn't like seeing her become a fox.

From: guest (Killer Lovebird) , 211 months, post #17
Also, considering that she has to put up with lunatics like Ran and Rei only make me feel more sympathetic towards her. Besides, who can forget the scene in "Electric Shocks Scare Me" in which Lum was crying when she realized that she was unable to use her powers?

P.S.
Yes, I have seen some of the earlier episodes, such as "Black Love Triangle", in which Lum comes across as being dislikeable. I'll admit that I didn't really like her actions in that episode in particular. But as the series progresses, she does become more likeable and sympathetic.

I guess no one will answer my questions...

Ugh, Lum-fox looks like Kitsune in a bikini. If ppl are so interested in seeing animals in underwear, they should watch 'Fritz the Cat' or play as Amy Sonic Adventure 2 Battle's multiplayer mode and pause the screen whenever Amy's underwear is visible.
