Wallace & Gromit: Curse Of The Were-Rabbit

I'm not going to go into the story, or plot points - I'm just going to explain a bit about the TF below (SPOILERS): A large monster like rabbit terrorizes a small town - and Gromit discovers the monster rabbit is actually his good friend Wallace. Seems Wallace transforms into this rabbit every n ...more

Wallace and Gromit won the 2005 Oscar for outstanding animated film.

I saw that - it deserved it too, really funny movie. I felt so bad for Nick Park after that huge fire destroyed all the W&G props... Good to see his work is appreciated.

I didn't see any of the nominations. My child thinks Miazaki was robbed, though. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the animated short subject nominations? They all looked great from the clips.

How this beat Howl's Moving Castle is beyond me. Miyazaki never gets the credit he deserves. :(

Howl's Moving Castle was good but it wasn't Miyazaki's best. Besides some people have a thing against Japanese animation.

I love Miyazaki, but Were-Rabbit was definitely better. I think the award was right on target. I don't think it was any sort of animus to jap-animation, I think it was simply Nick Parks best work to date vs a good effort piece from Miyazaki.

Exactly, Lady S.

Also, I am so glad that Brokeback didn't win. It officially means that the jokes are getting old.

> Miyazaki never gets the credit he deserves. :(

Personally, I liked "Hauru no Ugoku Shiro (Howl's Moving Castle)" more than "The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit." But Miyazaki had won an Oscar in 2003 for "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away)," so I was not surprised that the Academy picked someone else. Plus, I agree that "Spirited" was a better story than "Howl's."

As I said, I didn't see it. But I think that Spirited Away was one of the best films I ever saw, animated or live action.

But that's just me.

By they way, did anyone notice the irony between Spirited away and Kiki's Delivery Service? The former was about a spa vacation resort and was bizare, otherworldly and surreal. The latter was about Witchcraft and was down-to-earth. I thought that was interesting.
