Does anyone know what happened to the transformation website
cyoc.org ? For those of you that are unfamiliar, CYOC, stands for
"Choose Your Own Change". I haven't been able to access the site
for a month or two now and I wanted to know if any of you knows
what's going on.

Sorry I meant CYOC.net , not .org , my bad.

I only noticed it over the course of the last month myself that you
get the PostNuke error message about a problem in the database
connection after entering from the black adult content warning
screen. I have no idea. Maybe the people running things ended it
due to lack of funds or support. Sites like that probably get very
little donations if none at all. Hope Fiction Branches isn't next
on the chopping block or they betray the user base by going down
the same profit-driven fall from grace as Writing.com. The website
may not exist anymore and that's why the error message comes up
every time your connection sends requests to the server.

Assuming it follows the same idea as choose your own adventure, if
it gets big enough, the copyright owner can get it taken down. This
is even if you adjust its name. Was likely taken down because of
that
It is a common outcome for erotica authors who I have followed

Copyright claim from who?

From the copyright holder most likely. Current company that has it
is Chooseco LLC. Can't remember if it's copyright issue or
trademark issue but it's most likely a trademark issue since it's
so close to the essence of choose your own adventure

Nothing on plebbit regarding the CYOC outage but one user did link
the Wayback Machine's latest archive of the entire site (or most of
it) from 2024 so you can still access the majority of the stories.
https://web.archive.org/web/20240119074715/https://www.cyoc.net/interactives/story_index.html
Some users are already talking about scraping the entire archive of
its data and recreating the site if the original never comes back.
Though I don't know how feasible this may be.

Scrub it? Um why? If you don't like it don't read it. How much of a
baby do you have to be to want to "scrub" a website. The only
scrubbing such people need is their ass which is likely unclean as
they sit and weep on their couch.

Did you not read their message? Recreating it by scrubbing it isn't
then not liking the content ... It's the opposite. The point in
recreating it is because people can't read it without the Wayback
Machine lol

What is the "way back machine"? It sounds fun. It sounds like a
strain of weed a pot headed one might smoke.

It's a website that can look into the past, if a web page was
archived. So even if somebody alters a web page, assuming there is
an archived point in time for the page, you'll be able to see what
it looked like before the web page alteration for example
