I applaud the director for trying something new and experimental here. It might not be the movie many ppl think it is, but it is well done for the plot that it wants to convey (that is the loss of self etc, as poster 100 said).

I have to disagree with Guest 74 that it "strays from the premise."

If you read the comic, it falls in line with the movie, just expanded more thoroughly.

I have never read the novel so I was going blank and had low expectations since its a theatrical release but even though I can't speak French, I understood the plot mostly and the acting was actually very good. Would have loved to get the closure because I am pretty sure there won't be any sequel to this. So I feel this would have worked better as a series. But really liked the plot and the execution too.

While the movie as boring and slow, french style, the exploartion scene and when he has sex with his own body, are actually good.

I liked how they went with the sex scene. The actress represents very well how it starts like a suffering, slowly giving in, to enjoying it a bit. It reminded me a bit to Si j'étais elle couch scene. I would have liked they went a little further with more scenes where he would get used to sex.
