What if the Genderwave occurred today?

Inspired by a Genderwave story I read lately, What if everyone in the world swapped Gender?

For those who aren’t familiar with the story shown below are links to the first Genderwave story ever written and the universe’s rules here on Metamorphose:

Anyway basically a magical wave swaps the gender of everyone on Earth over a 24 hour period and at the end rewrites history so that you were always born as the opposite sex.

If you are a heterosexual man you become a heterosexual woman and vice versa. Bisexuals remain the same. Similarly gay men become lesbians and lesbians gay men.

Pregnancies transfer over to the new mother

What would be repercussions and your reaction if such as event occurred today?

But do you and everyone remember what things used to be? If so, do you also remember the new time line events where you were born a girl? Like "oh, now I remember my 15 years old birthday and I remember the new version (where was born a girl), and I remember the old version (where I was born a boy)?

No, no one's memories are altered. Everyone remembers the way things used to be, and no one has memories of the new world. But, for instance, you have a closet full of clothes appropriate for your new sex, childhood photos of your new self, government documentation reflecting your new sex and name, you have social media accounts for your new identity, and so on. Outside of people's memories, the world reflects everyone's new sex.

It is actually my most favourite trope after great shift. I guess I like the tropes where everyone in the world undergoes the changes so I don't have to explain why I am enjoying being in the body of the opposite gender hehe...

But yeah Gender Wave is certainly a very interesting concept and very much unexplored. Mainly because it is complicated since it will be difficult to rewrite the history of so many charcters in the story involved.

But if you ask me what would happen if the Gender Wave moved across the world changing everyone's gender now, I feel it will have the same effect as the great shift on the world overall. It will be different on individual basis since everyone will react to their own changes differently depending on if they got the better end of the deal or worse but it will certainly be exciting times getting to know how much everyone has changed...
