I just got done reading "The Moorstone Sickness" by Bernard Taylor.
It's where a whole modern English Village are really druids who
have been using a Stonehenge type pillar for centuries to steal the
bodies of their assistants, guests, or just about anyone else
unlucky enough to cross their paths. It took me to a whole other
level of chills, and I'm looking for similar horror/supernatural
novels or short stories. I just want to relive that same good scare
again! Any suggestions??

Thank you for sharing this book, it was indeed fun to read.
As for other suggestions... Maybe name one or two things you really
liked about this story (hidden behind a spoiler tag for others) and
I might be able to suggest something.

Kind of all the above. I did love the gloating the new "Rowan" did
when she left with her lover. What I really loved was the how
creepy foreshadowing leading up to the swaps. The guests suddenly
deciding to stay in town when they were preparing to leave town, or
how the people had in town had a habit of leaving their wealth to
near strangers who suddenly took up their benefactors previous
vocations that they originally had no interest in: doctors,
writers, musicians. Any books or stores like this would be greatly
appreciated!

For the gloating: Some of the short stories from Jimmy Zappa have
it. Can't think of any of his stories with a lot of creepy
foreshadowing though.
Maybe the "Education of Jennifer Parrish" by Russ Martin might have
what you are looking for. It is the last part of a trilogy. Half of
the book is about stuff from the previous books, the other half can
be read as a story on its own, that involves body swapping. This
part of the story takes place at a military style boarding school,
where the most attractive students have their bodies stolen by
elderly satanists that secretly run the school. Personality changes
over night, lots of foreshadowing.
Like in The Moorstone Sickness, the swaps are f2f and m2m and most
of them happen "off-screen".
But it is hard to get and absurdly expensive these days (50-100$ US
for a paperback) as it is out of print for 40 years now. One might
say becoming a pirate might be the only sensible solution. There
used to be a torrent with the entire Russ Martin collection.

Back in the 70s to early 90s there were a few of these bodyswap
conspiracy horror novels.
Russ Martin's "The Education of Jennifer Parrish"
Long out-of-print, and copies can go for up to $90 on eBay. I found
a couple in this series in 2nd Hand bookshops for a buck though.
Essentially, it is about an academy for rich teenagers...run by a
satanic cult that swaps old cult members into young bodies.
The taunting and body swap is very closely reminiscent of "The
Moorstone" only more detailed and sexual (I have wondered if Taylor
copied this). Swaps are MtM and F2F.

Michael Cecilione's "Soul Snatchers"
VERY VERY similar to "The Moorstone". About a young woman who
discovers a town, Eden Bluffs, where people live forever.
Dark dark ending.

Another good one to look up if you're on the internet archive is
"The Surrogate" by Nick Sharman. A cruel, wealthy titan of industry
passes away in England, and his spirit which has been raised by a
medium, begins tormenting his estranged son Frank, a radio Dj, and
his 8 year old grandson Simon, who he wants to be the heir to his
business empire. After a long struggle, they end up back at the
mansion where Frank grew up. The ending is incredibly dark, with
the Frank thinking he's banished his father's spirit, only to
discover that his once loving son is now cold and calling him
Francis. A name his father only ever called him growing up. Frank
is left screaming in near madness, as his "son" begins sitting in
his grandfather's chair, smiling and contemplating the future of
his business empire, and demanding they moving back into the
mansion. Very disturbing!

The Surrogate, definitely sounds like one I'll need to read. Also,
the Education of Jennifer Parish. Thanx

Post #6 The closest thing I can think of is My Husband's Secret
Crush by Jimmy Zappa (f2f body swap), where the young woman gets
tricked by a married couple into giving up her body after gaining
her trust over time. I have to reinstall my Kindle to reread it but
there's a lot of gloating from the couple before and after the
older woman has sex with her husband in her new body.
Synopsis: Priscilla Marcus is a young assistant who wants a change
in her career. Her boss, Katherine Bell, is a bookkeeper in a
wheelchair who also wants a change. Unfortunately, she and her stud
husband have their eyes set on Priscilla. Using a mixture of trust,
meditation, and magic, Katherine tricks the young girl into
switching bodies with her. Now equipped with her beauty and youth,
Katherine excitedly sets out to make the swap permanent by any
means possible. Upon gaining knowledge of the ritual used to steal
her body, Priscilla does everything in her power to reverse the
swap. But will the obstacles in her way make her lose her body
forever?

Does anyone have to happen other recommendations for horror body
swap books? preferably they involve a conspiracy of sorts, people
suddenly acting differently and at least one case of f2f

"The Mephisto Waltz" by Fred Mustard. It has both m2m and f2f
possession, and people suddenly acting very different. It's on the
internet archive as well.

Dealing with Aunt Delilah is a good one where an aunt swaps bodies

@guest I think the "conspiracy" is the hardest element to find.
Though I like that myself (I once wrote a story featuring a F2F
conspiracy tied to an Inn where a coven slowly replaced the women
of a town during celebrations of their wedding anniversaries).
Maybe it is complicated for authors to do, so they limit their
characters and plots?
I'll have a think.
In the meantime... for acting differently + F2F in mainstream
novels (tho you may have read these):
Fritz Leiber - "Conjure Wife"
The classic of the F2F genre, and a conspiracy of sorts in a small
college town.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/722251.Conjure_Wife
Richard Matheson - "Earthbound"
Lots of sex. People acting differently. F2F but no conspiracy.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/33546.Earthbound
Bruce King - "Demon Shield"
A couple of possession F2Fs. People acting differently.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1850112.Demon_Shield
William Johnstone - "The Devil's Heart" (part of a series)
I toss this in as a curiosity, as it is a strange one.
Imagine a mainstream conservative writer of many cowboy novels...
writing pornographic novels of a demonic conspiracy taking over a
town. Yes, to say the people start acting differently is an
understatement.

Looking forward to see what people suggest. Very interesting
topic...

@Macan, you don't happen to have that story of yours still lying
around somewhere and are willing to share it? I assume you
published it, if you ever published it, in one of the old f2f yahoo
groups. I did backup some of these stories, but the only story of
yours I could still find on my disk was "Old Mrs. Parrish".
I've already read Earthbound, never would have thought to mention
it. There are so many books I bought back in the day based on an
entries on this site, when you still could search the database
properly and apply multiple parameters. Earthbound, Grandma's
little darling, The Education of Jennifer Parrish... These are all
books I found through the database here. Maybe there is another
book in my collection I could add here. I'll check it out as soon
as time allows it, which might be the weekend

Just finished the previous recommendation "The Surrogate." It was a
very dark read. You feel real sorry for the possessed kid at the
end, and the father who now has to raise his "son/father." I do
kind of wish Frank had finished strangling the female psychic at
the end who started the whole mess by first accepting his father's
bribe. Instead she walks scott free out the door, while poor Frank
is left whimpering in the corner.

Hey gang, I've found a couple more book examples, but I don't won't
to spoil them for anyone who hasn't read it. Can someone tell me
how to create spoiler tag? I'm not very tech savvy and don't know
the steps. And thanks for all the recommendations that have been
posted since my first post.

But remove the free space in < spoiler>
