Am I the only one who liked TG with impersonation elements the
most? Like a high school loser obtains the memories of cheerleader
he transformed into, and everybody doesn't notice the cheerleader
has been replaced by a loser. An example of this is the Jagaaaaaan
manga with the guy who obtains the ability to steal other people
bodies.
In contrast I hated normal TG where a guy is involuntarily
transformed into a girl and becomes a sissy, crossdressing, all of
that. Body swap as well, used to like it, but if there is no
impersonation and just "learning each other roles" I'm turned off
by them. The ability to fool people thinking you're the real,
genuine woman is really exciting and turns me on.

Not especially fond of body swaps myself esp where memory access
makes the impersonation all too easy. "TG Identity Theft" stories
have always been my favorite trope although I prefer the
impersonator to "work at it". Impersonation usually by surgery or
disguise (although magic allowed in limited use) and then the twin
still has to learn personal history, voice / speech patterns,
personality, body language, etc. The possibility of discovery, the
chance a victim might try to reclaim her identity, the sheer length
her evil twin will go through to achieve what "she" wants can be
both entertaining and fascinating to read.

Role swaps are essential, at least that's my opinion. I'm not
intresred in a man turning into a woman, then easily acting all
feminine. There needs to be struggle. My turn on is a very feminine
woman acting strangely masculine. Same goes for the flip side. An
extremely masculine, hairy muscular man now acting like an older
woman, or little girl is very important in the swap. Can't make
things too east. Struggle is everything.

thread a while ago for ftf twin replace original or impersonate
them and many people replied to that too so I guess it's a much
liked troupe.

Wow so lucky that I’ve stumbled upon this thread! @Guest yes you’re
not alone, I like the impersonation aspect the most, but
unfortunately I don’t think there’s too many of them.

I do also enjoy the most when the focus is on impersonation and
there is some kind of a goal while he/she pretends to be someone
else. For me it also matters that there is a possibility for
impersonator to get caught when the person he/she is impersonating
is somehow around. So body swaps, possessions, skin suit guns etc.
just aren't my cup of tea.

It is a different story dynamic. Learning the differences between
sexes and their routine is more of surface level albiet much
simpler and easier story to write. The sissification and wish
fulfillment are much easier to add. It's primary focus is on the
psychical. How the body feels, moves, reacts, how certain cloths
feel/look, and how you are now perceived and treated.
Impersonation and access to memories is much more on the cerebral
aspects and often tends to go to much darker avenues (which imo
makes for a more intriguing story).
Doppelgangers, body clones, skin suits, skin suit guns, possession,
magic, technology, etc....no matter how you get their body, that
near flawless impersonation just ups the ante in most body swap
stories, which is why I have talked at great length about Kripto's
works. I think even with a flawless impersonation there could be
something that might tip off a loved one, or they reveal themselves
to a younger sibling and never stepping out of line again. Humans
notice a lot on subconscious levels. So I'm with whomever started
this thread!!

OP here. Tbh I'm curious of cases where the loser / ugly bastard
transforms into like a popular girl and he doesn't get the
necessary memories and mannerisms to act like her
If the memory inheritance was done i'm fine with it, but most of
the time the transformed guy was able to improvise on the spot,
which is unrealistic

Yeah the Jagaaaan manga was a masterpiece for the impersonation
aspect, not only ‘easy’ memory access, but also deep exploration
and character building, but dont want to spoil for those who doesnt
read it yet. Wonder if theres similar manga to it.

On Jagaaaaaan: It's so disappointing to see such an interesting
premise gets ruined by the author's choices, though

@Nmmmm or you can check the wikipedia page for a character named
Yadori. It'll tell you where he'll appear.

You hit the nail OP. I like what everyone is saying in this thread.
It would be nice if we could share our favorite impersonation
stories. One of my favs is "Stolen Lives" from fictionmania.

124235a, I especially like the ones you do that involve bodysuits
or disguises. Not so much the possessions an bodyswaps. However,
that said, ones where the imposter swaps and actually studies up on
the victim's life (such as reading a diary in "Don't Ask Don't
Tell") are pretty good as well.
