Let's be real here, the recent troll problem on this board is
starting to get ridiculous, are people really THAT against making
an actual account on the website???

I'm not against making an account on the website. That's standard
practice for literally every community. Only solution is to make
more moderators, and the problem is trusting people. Sadly, most
people can't be trusted.

I tend to think that more mods would be a better alternative, I
truly dislike sites that require some account. And even if the site
start to require an account, nothing prevents the troll from
creating several accounts using some disposable email and continue
his trolling, of course the mods could go further and start
requiring an account associate to some email like gmail or other
respectable email provider, but some might not feel comfortable
with that. Especially when those emails usually require a phone
number to begin with it.
Also, maybe some system banning IPs would be handy, if there isn't
something like this implemented already. Yes, technically he could
evade this, but I'm pretty sure he is too stupid to do it. Also,
maybe some system that, if a message is flagged by, like 10 people
or so, it goes to some spam folder? Just some ideas.

Also, in any case, there should be definitely some "Report box" or
something, so that people don't need to create a new post to report
the trolling. Or at least, I would advise the mods to also delete
the messages reporting the spam after deleting the the spam, like
for instance, there 4 posts just about reporting the spam, they
could have been deleted as well after the spam was dealt with it.

As much as the active mods have said "Don't engage, you only feed
them" that hasn't solved the problem. We all know this is the same
person constantly trying to troll (and honestly, they're not good
at it, yet they still persist). Something needs to change. Simply
posting reporting spammer threads does nothing. The threads get
deleted, but they obviously have nothing better to do if they keep
posting.
Honestly, I'd favor a complete overhaul of the message board
system. It's long overdue, from the "Where can i find X, Y, and Z
video" to the troll posts. If that's just not possible, then require
a login account. All due respect to Post #3 (aka Guest 921XA) if
you're a frequent visitor to this site, you can afford to sign up
for an account here. As for the troller "using some disposable
email", then that just shows how pathetic they are if they have to
keep making emails to keep signing up. I'd rather they waste time
going through hoops than to simply flood boards with their
unoriginal, idiotic trolling.

What trolling? The only thing I see is constant complaints about
trolling.

TheDetective, I would create an account, but I think many honest
users would not. Whenever you want to interact with a site and they
put this initial barrier, it always turn off some users who would
otherwise post, maybe some users who would end up becoming very
active on the site. You are basically punishing everyone because of
some jerk.
Also, this troll is a completely miserable human being who has
nothing better to do, have no doubts he would start creating
several email accounts to keep his trolling and we would end up at
the same point we are. And then people might start to suggesting
"oh, let's require some phone number or gmail email address to
allow people posting"...
I don't know how many people use this forum, but it shouldn't be
hard to find some 2 or 3 extra users to be mods and ban this spam
sooner. Anyway, eventually the troll will get tired and move on
with his miserable shitty life.

Thats probably because the troll that shows up on the site gets his
post removed usually within hours of being posted
|
From: Moose
, 23 months, post #9 |
Another option is what if posting could be put on hold for a moment
until reviewed by a moderator
Basically you increase the size of moderators on the website
Then what you do is you create a queue where mods get the chance to
review said post
If all is said and dandy the mod approved the post and it shows up
on the board
If the user has an actual account maybe after a certain amount of
verified posts they get the ability to post on the website without
having to worry about the queue

Post #2, I've tried making an account but the verification email

I don't see anything wrong with letting only registered users post.
I don't understand why people have a problem with that. It would
sure make things easier for the moderators.
|
From: guest (Guest 3)

the only people who doesn't like registered users post is the
trolls
|
From: guest (Guest 18)

I don't think that having to register will solve anything. You can
create infinite burner emails and have infinite accounts, I think
mods have already stated that. I do think that trolls will
eventually get tired if they are ignored because what they want is
to make people mad and to get attention. Opening threads like this
will encourage them even more.
And to "One of the trolls" I don't think this is the place to get
revenge against "the government" I assume you are american because
you are so self-centered that you keep forgetting that most of us
don't give a damn about american politics. Open a blog, start a
podcast or write a letter to New York Times it will be far more
effective for your purposes. Most of us don't care about your
internal mess and polarization. We've been told not to engage with
your kind but maybe because I was born an idealist I do think that
deep down even the most fanatic and deranged people are able to
reason with. We do not have anything to do with the "war" you are
trying to fight.

I'm starting to drift away from here tbh. Between the troll trying
to pin his crimes on me to lack of content, I'm almost done. at
this point, I'm feeling like nothing can save this site. I can only
hope for improvement. Please one of the trolls, stop harrasing me
and everyone else. thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I want to ask you a question, before the troll thread deleted days
ago, you said that a troller was from the deviantart and I forgot
his name, can you tell me about it?

I just remembered he kept posting a link to this. He claimed to be
an author of it but I'm not sure if he was or not.
