Authors, fyi...
I have a classic old tg novel on Amazon. (A Woman's Passion) For
its first ten years, it sold 50 to 150 copies per month in
paperback or full price kindle.
In recent years that dwindled to under 10 copies per month.
But I resisted allowing it to be read free on Kindle Unlimited,
because authors get paid according to a formula (monthly:
pages-read-of-your book as a numerator over a denominator
of-all-pages-read-on-Kindle-Unlimited that month times
total-Amazon-Kindle-subscription income [less Amazon's margin, of
course).
My thinking was: well, with all those millions(?) of books
available on Kindle Unlimited, my niche-market tg novel page-reads
will be negligible as a numerator for my income.
To my surprise, my royalties from Kindle Unlimited reads have
exploded to more than 30 times per month over my royalties from
paperback and kindle copy sales of A WOMAN'S PASSION.
So, authors, I suggest you try Kindle Unlimited.
(I have one other title that is still available only as a paperback
or kindle edition; but when that stops selling well that way, I'll
probably make that available in Kindle Unlimited also. )
