A surprising discovery of an old comic strip villain in some ads.
Has everything from age to animal, to TG, to inanimate:

Good find. I've never seen these before.

Anyface takes also form of Daisy Mae to fool Abner in Li'l Abner
dailies. It was published in July 1966 but so far I've found only
couple of strips from the story;

Does anyone know if this story can be found online or if it can be
bought somewhere.

Never reprinted as far as I know. Newspaper scans of the full story
were uploaded to one of Jen Derbender's later Yahoo Groups years
ago. I didn't download it (sadly) but I did read it in full.
Art-wise Daisy Mae never looked better. Unfortunately, being the
60s, the storyline moves very quickly. Anyface, the world's most
secret and successful criminal, learns an author has dreamed up a
character like himself and tries to stop the book from being
published (so as to keep his existence a secret). Unfortunately the
author mailed his manuscript to Li'l Abner and Anyface has to go to
Dogpatch to retrieve it. He immediately impersonates Daisy upon
arrival and Abner then spends about a week trying to pick his real
wife. And then once exposed Anyface tries to escape and falls into
a bottomless canyon.
Sigh.
A decade earlier, Capp would have likely turned the whole "Li'l
Abner Meets Anyface" portion into a 6-8 week affair alone. I could
see a storyline in which Anyface came to Dogpatch to hide out
instead and impersonates various characters (including Moonbeam
McSwine) before settling on Daisy. I could also see Abner initially
picking the WRONG Daisy to further prolong the plot.
Daisy would have been jailed on mistaken identity (it's been done
before). The police would assume "Anyface's" refusal to unmask was
an insanity plea while at home an aggrieved "Daisy" would bully her
lazy husband and get away with other out-of-character activity
until either the real Daisy escaped or something forced Anyface to
reveal himself.
As is, the actual storyline did contain a week of beautifully drawn
twin Daisies accusing each other before a confused Abner.

Thanks for that. That should actually be in the database. Surprised
it hasn’t been entered yet..

Thank you Wanda Scarletta for all of the information.
Hopefully this will pop out somewhere. Maybe that story will be
reprinted some day or somebody downloaded scans from Jen
Derbender's Yahoo Group.

Yeah. I'd love to see the strips with Anyface trying to convince
Abner HE was really his wife.
Still, these are a great find. Daisy Mae is so much prettier than
Bess Backache whom Anyface also impersonated and almost got married
as.

Awesome!
Thanks!
So Anyface actually kissed Abner to convince him.
