Is Crossdressing TG?
From: guest (Mr Poll) , 52 months, post #1
I say no.

TG is where there is a gender change.

CD is where there is crossdressing, no gender change.

In regards to this site, CD is not a transformation.

What say you?

If crossdressing is pulled off so well that the end effect is spotless, and I can't tell if this person is nothing but what it appears to be - it is a valid form of TG in my book.

From: guest (Me) , 52 months, post #3
Do not let crossdressing infect this site!

From: cj , 52 months, post #4
Crossdressing is NOT a transformation.

Though... some CD material MAY BE OF INTEREST to some.

CD won't be allowed in the database, but some is allowed here in the message board. It all depends on the material and it's perception of an actual TF (how close it seems to an actual TF). Each post is judged on its own merit for being allowed or rejected/removed.

They have a pretty big overlap, but are different genres overall.

From: guest (Kara) , 52 months, post #6
While I can understand not accepting CD on this site because it would "ooen the floodgates" with overwhelming amounts of content, I DO consider crossdressing - and any form of disguise - where the results are so incredibly different that it's difficult to accept that they are the same person

From: guest (Kara) , 52 months, post #7
To be a literal transformation. Just not an "impossibly magical" one which is the sole focus of this site. .

From: guest (Guy Noir) , 52 months, post #8
TG is a change of gender, that is not crossdressing. There are plenty of sites that cater to crossdressing. There is no need to bring CD into an area discussing TG.

From: guest , 52 months, post #9
I enjoy crossdressing in stories, movies etc. when these are well done. And broadly crossdressing can defined as part of TG. But I don't think it should be considered as TG on this site.

Then again, I don't think body swap should be included either here since it's not actual transformation. But that's a topic for another time and thread.

Is cat a bird?

what about quantum leap he is tech cross dressing even tho people see him as a female so where would that go into play

From: guest (Guy Noir) , 52 months, post #12
It is crossdressing made for an audience who could not handle more, and not actual TG or transformation.

From: cj , 52 months, post #13
"Is cat a bird?"
Irrelevant. We've already stated that CD and TF are not the same thing.

"what about quantum leap..."
It is included in the database. It was originally supposed to be an actual TF, IIRC. Also, the jumps are more like a swap (to other people), than someone CD (which is what is actually happening). This is one of those unique examples that is harder to define as one or the other. The final thing with QL is that it was of interest to much of the community here for its almost-a-swap narrative.

From: guest (Also Interested) , 52 months, post #14
I think the overlap comes from the narrative and the real life actors. So some body swaps or transformations involved the actors crossdressing, due the mechanic of TF (e.g., they transformed into each other or are perceived as the opposite sex).

Compare Dating the Enemy, The Hot Chick, and Love Carrot, as well as your Quantum Leap-style swaps. Then there's also the rare "just want to wear what I want" or "miss my old clothes" too.

CD for the sake of CD I dont think belongs on the database, but I appreciate transformations and QL-style swaps that involve the actors being CD.

From: guest (Me) , 52 months, post #15
My only interest is TG which is gender changes. Hate it when there is a good TG conversation going and someone inserts crossdressing into it.

From: guest (Guy Noir) , 52 months, post #16
Those involved in crossdressing interest cannot stand that CD is not TG and TG does not want them, insist on being included, and get angry when you say no, not here.

They are not the same. Entirely two different genres.

From: guest (LPK) , 52 months, post #17
They are a whiney bunch, always crying how crossdressing and gender change are the same thing.

Reminder:

  • Do not 'attack' other posters. You may attack an individual's comments but not the individual.
  • Be polite, courteous, and respectful. Please keep the conversations civil.

Some of these posts are getting close to discourteous/disrespectful name-calling attacks.

From: D.A.W. , 52 months, post #19
For those looking to exclude crossdressers from the TG category.. do remember that TG is short for transgender. As a transgender person I could easily say any story that doesn't include some form of social or medical transition isn't TG.

Just a thought...
