A thriller about a teenage girl who swaps bodies with a deranged
serial killer and has 24 hours to fix things or it becomes
permanent:

Hopefully it wont be like the Host chick which hardly showed Rachel
McAdams after the swap. Kathryn Newton is a great actress and will
hopefuly get her time shown in the film.

That was meant to be "The Hot Chick" apparently when the clock says
00:30 I should go to sleep.

That was my first thought too, Guest #2. Hopefully, since Vince
Vaughn is presumably playing the killer, we'll see a decent amount
of him in Kathryn Newton's body, though.

Considering this is going to be a horror movie, I can't WAIT to see
this. Kathryn Newton is my celebrity girl crush and I'm just so
happy to see that she'll be in a body-swap film nonetheless!

She's super hot and I dig the premise and the fact that this is a
major release. However, I can see them just keeping the girl body
in the shadows as she stalks her victims. And we'll probably be
following Vaughn around as he'll be the heroine. I don't know maybe
they'll surprise plus the director's previous Happy Death Day
movies are awesome.

Unfortunately, since the heroic character would be going from the
body of Newton to Vaughn, I suspect we'll spend most of the movie
watching Vaughn act like a teenage girl and we'll only get a little
bit of Newton as the male character. So, yeah, The Hot Chick, but
played for horror instead of comedy. It's interesting that it is
horror, since Vaughn has focused pretty exclusively on comedy for
years and this is a premise that would usually be played for
laughs.

My guess is horror comedy, just like Happy Death Day

Whoops just posted in the copied thread, but this looks like it
could be really fun. And I was thinking the same thing re:Hot Chick
downside. My biggest worry being the same as the previous poster
about focusing too much on Vaughn as a girl. What I’m hoping they
instead do is something cool where the girl is trying to get back
to her body and the man possessing her is trying to stay as the
girl, running away from the “killer old creepy guy” most of the
movie. Hoping it doesn’t disappoint.

Good call on having him pretend to be her running from "the
killer". I'd LOVE that. Another hope is I don't see Vaughn wanting
to pull a Rob Schneider and play a teen girl the whole movie. He'd
definitely only sign on if it was something different.

Looking at her instagram. Hot is an understatement. Girl is a god
damn smoke show.

Since this is a HORROR movie, what is the chance that it ends with
"the bad guy wins" ending where the f2m is shot dead or something
while the m2f get to live happily ever after in the new body?
Also, I know this site is full of people who want to see permanent
m2f change, but in this case he is serial killer, would you be
happy if this movie ends with m2f stuck ending?

It certainly works as a horror ending. But is very different from
the light hearted horror the director has done before. But sure why
not? They're fictional characters.

All I can think of is the movie called assignment with Michelle
Rodriguez. that's what I think is going to happen to this movie. It
has promised and a lot of possibilities but in the end turns out to
be a dud in our community's opinion.

Both Happy Death Days are pretty awesome with a tone that would fit
this like a glove.

Here's A Real Movie: Freaky Friday, But With A Serial Killer
Aside from the odd John Woo action epic or French pervert thriller
about David Duchovny being horny for his own daughter, body swap
movies tend to play it safe. To distract people from the
mind-boggling implications, they tend to be wacky family comedies
in which the body-swappers get into awkward but wholesome hijinks,
and the most risque joke is when someone peeks into their pants.
And you'd be forgiven to think that a new body-switching movie
featuring Vince Vaughn as a pretty blonde teen girl would be
exactly that. Except this time, it not being very funny is the
whole point.
Deadline recently announced that Disturbia's Chris Landon is
working on a project in which Kathryn Newton (of Detective Pikachu
fame) and Vince Vaughn (of definitely not True Detective fame)
switch bodies. At first that sounds exactly like the kind of PG-13
comedy Vaughn used to do, probably filled with bad lesbian jokes
and Owen Wilson doing his best surprised puppy face. Except that
this switcheroo saga is reported to be more freaky than, um,
Friday. Landon is intent on making a "gory, batsh*t" thriller. So
while Vaughn is transported into the body of a popular high school
girl, Newton is trapped in the body of a deranged serial killer,
with only 24 hours revert the change before it becomes permanent.
Yet this series of odd choices may just be the recipe that finally
nails the body swap horror movie, a notoriously difficult
sub-sub-genre that not only requires the switching of bodies, but
also the switching between psychological horror and farcical
moments that flow from mistaken identities. But if anyone can do
it, it's Landon, who has made it his niche to turn high-concept
comedy tropes into disturbing horror movies. He's previously
written and directed the well-received Happy Death Day, a horror
take on Groundhog Day for people who didn't realize Groundhog Day
already had that covered.
Meanwhile, Vince Vaughn has been quite literally killing it in his
recent comeback by playing violent, toxic goons, so it'll be
fascinating to watch him set up the menace of a hulking, dead-eyed
Ed Kemper type before having to revert to his old style of a
middle-aged man doing his best mean girl impression. And even if
this ambitious project still fails, we'll at least get the gift of
Kathryn Newton trying to channel Vince Vaughn by squinting a lot
and ending every line by ad-libbing "That's just how I feel, baby.
That's where I'm coming from."
