A lot of body switch stuff is temporary, as well as possession
stories. The ones I know of that aren't is stuff like The Skeleton
Key, where it just happens at the very end of the film.
Are there any examples in fiction (doesn't matter what the medium
is: film, book, video game, etc.) where female characters have
their bodies inhabited by someone else, willingly or not, that
isn't short term? I know Mantra and Psylocke had that, but the
former isn't around anymore and they retconned that with Psylocke.
The best example I know of is the backstory of an antagonist in the
Forgotten Realms D&D setting: a man named Shoon VII switched
bodies with an elven woman, and hasn't switched back since.

There is a game called Fire Emblem: Awakening, where the
protagonist discovers that the main villain is herself from the
future, who was taken over by the powerful male entity name Grima.
You also have to select the female protagonist character for this
to work.

In Myst IV: Revelation, the central plot involves Atrus' evil son
Sirrus attempting to transfer his mind into the body of Atrus'
young daughter Yeesha: partly to escape his imprisonment, but also
so that he can learn the Art that Atrus was willing to teach her
but not him.

The ending of Being John Malkovich has the protagonist inhabit the
body (albeit with no control) of his wife’s daughter forever, and
it’s implied that the other possessors will move to her body (with
control) when she turns 44 years old.
