I’ve been doing stuff on and off. But I still feel that unhappiness
doing captions? Even when I try to be positive about it. Anyone
else who writes captions feel like this?

Writes every now and then just to have an outlet of my creativity.
I don't write if I don't feel for it.

You could always take a break from it and come back when you feel
really inspired. That, or maybe branch out and write a full-on
short story, or maybe even a novel. The sky's the limit, right?

CaptainZap: Are you feeling burnout? Is it lack of feedback from
viewers/readers? Do you feel you're just rehashing the same ground?
Do the themes & actions in your caps make you feel uncomfortable in
what you think they reveal about you? Are you too much of a
perfectionist? Are your caps "no longer enough" to sate your
drives?
Whatever the reasons, CZ, I hope you find your way to a more
positive and creative headspace.

what is your site

@DrunkenScreech
Originally I was using captions for fetish writing, but I started
feeling depressed after awhile. I’ve always felt like I was born
the wrong gender and I think that’s part of the reason I’m
depressed. There’s also the hostile environment of TG writing
currently where everybody wants to demand that you do what they
want. Along with the political correctness and shoving opinions
down people’s throats. Caption writing hasn’t been fun for awhile
like I said: it’s just that the current environment makes me want
to do it less.

Also: since I have some conservative views which aren’t welcome by
the majority of TG writers. Liberalization seems to be infecting
anything and everything nowadays and now captions are becoming
infested with the same people. Or they were always there, but now
have become louder and more obnoxious.

@CaptainZap: There are always a small but disproportionately loud
minority on both sides of the political spectrum. But you're just
making caps for you and your fans; you're not setting government
policy, writing legislation, or otherwise putting your boot on the
throat of anyone. In the grand scheme of things, if someone(s)
doesn't agree with your views or your creative output, that's on
them. They can always stop reading, or write their own caps and
stories.
Do what makes you happy and gives you release. Don't let anyone
live in your head for free.
And as a tree-hugging, democratic socialist, pro-choice, SJW hippie
freak, it often seems to me that the Overton window has moved way
too far the other way. But it seems to me that what I see and read
in the media is often largely distorted and deliberately shaped to
keep people pitted against each other as a distraction to much
bigger issues; the vast majority of people aren't black & white,
but instead are complex blends of political positions, deep
beliefs, and compromises that get them through the day. I'm fairly
sure that I have many many more things in common with you than
there are things that would divide us. I can't speak for anyone
else, but I won't condemn you or try to shout you down just for
your opinions or what you put in your caps. Hell, I might even
learn something.
I don't have any sage words to sooth the gender dysphoria you seem
to be feeling. I hope you can figure out a way to achieve your
equilibrium with it.

I'm terrible at captioning, at least when it comes to actually
making them on programs like Gimp or Photoshop as sometimes I just
like to write out the actual story rather than figure out how to
combine the story with the image. I try to do them but i'm just not
good at it.

I used to not feel that bad about captioning, but once I entered a
relationship things changed. I quit it (for the most part, with the
occasional drunken binge) and every time I do it I feel as if I'm
betraying my partner's trust. I feel horrible and I cannot fathom
what they would think of me if they found out about me using photos
of women who had no intent of their photos being used this way for
a fetish. My long term relationship with my SO is more important to
me than short term sexual gratification, and yet when I'm drunk and
they're out of town I'll relapse.
I totally understand feeling bad about captioning.

@Riley Avery
The unauthorized use of real people's photos is one reason why I
never even bothered to start captioning. But if I ever did start,
there are a couple ways I could assuage that guilt.
One captioner I follow addresses this by only using logo'd porn
photos for their base image.
There's also the website thispersondoesnotexist.com which uses AI
to generate a realistic image of people.
There's also the various gender swap filters (Snapchat, FaceApp)
where you could start with yourself as the base, do various
transformations, and then write the caption around that.

Whenever I do relapse and get it out of my system now I have a set
number of rules I try to follow.
- Only use pictures from women who have a high likelihood of
knowing their images could be used in a sexual manner (porn
actresses / cam girls, models, etc).
- To not have my own site. One of my biggest factors of my old
caption habit was seeing the stats change on my site with each
post. I can still post them elsewhere, but no blog owned by me.
- Every story has to have consequences. What those consequences are
can be anything from good (e.g. the character loves their new body
and life and has adapted to it perfectly) to bad (the main
character can't handle taking on the responsibilities of somebody
else and wants to go back). Having consequences takes the caption
from a fetish to a story, and I like telling stories.
