Helena, a young woman of 30 years, makes the decision to live in
Lisbon, to be single, independent and unavailable. But like all of
us, Helena does not control destiny and meets the man of her life.
What seemed to be a year away from amorous adventures, and only
pure personal enrichment, has turned into a mad, unpredictable test
of emotional intelligence. The biggest problem is when Helen asks
God for precious help: she just wanted a man more like her. This
becomes a combination of two things: a man and a woman.

I don't speak Portuguese and the google captions were pretty rough
but it looks to me that the woman asked God to make her boyfriend
more like her and now she can only see her boyfriend as a woman. I
don't think anything physically changed, just the main woman sees
her boyfriend as a woman most/all of the time.

Translation: Someone like me
- My name is Elena, I'm here to tell you guys how I changed my life
in the last one year.
- Good afternoon.
- Good afternoon.
That portuguese was a catcher, in a blink of an eye he was sleeping
in my bed. But, let's be fair, the day to day life in a
relationship is not a never-ending honeymoon.
- You are light years away from understanding women.
- No, Elena, I'm light years away from understanding you.
I wanted him to be a little more.... well... a little more like me.
- ...what about these pants, Elena, aren't they beautiful?
- ...Alex?
I look at you and I see a woman. You're going to insist I'm crazy,
ok... fine.
There are folks who have disorders, there folks who have panic
attacks, there are folks who see ghosts. There are people who see a
man where a woman is, where an old man is, where a fish is, you
know what I mean?
What you are seeing there? Are you looking at it now?
...I knew it was him, but it was him like with a GPS [Yeah, I
didn't understand that as well, she spoke with a muffled voice, so
maybe she said another word, but it look like a GPS to me
- Elena sees what she wants to see
- I miss things that back then I considered...
- GODDAMMIT, SHE DOESN'T STOP TALKING!
- You invited me to have dinner with your friends just so that they
think you have a normal life.
- For god's sake, I didn't understand a word of what you just said.
You speak fast and with an accent, how should I understand? it?

This movie is of the same kind of movie as the one girl who made a
wish and ended up with a penis. Nothing really special about both
movies but a unique idea

Oh, so it's "Shallow Hal" but with gender instead of size.

Basically, yeah. Except she knew what the guy looked like before
she only saw him as a woman.

I thought this was visually very interesting. The main character
woman seemed to look at the boyfriend/woman with jealousy at times.
When he/she was bending over at the pool and in the therapist
office the main character woman looked disgusted and jealous. It
was really a woman like her.

I speak a bit of portuguese, but the portuguese accents made it a
bit hard to follow, so I could be mistaken
The film gets a bit lost. The first ten or so minutes are her
dissatisfied with an absent boyfriend, work problems and stuff that
has no bearing on anything, until she decides to leave Brazil and
accept a job in Portugal
After some touristy shots that may have helped finance the film,
she meets the male lead, they date and go steady. It's nearing the
half hour mark until they flashforward a few months and we see that
things are losing steam.
Normally, THIS is where the film should start, with the struggling
relationship that provides the motivation for what is to come,
which is her wish (for him to be more like her) and the stuff we
see in the trailer...at almost two thirds of the way in.
BTW, she only SOMETIMES sees him as a woman, not all of the time.
Also, he begins to act more compliant to her tastes.
Honestly, it's not just a trailer, but a sizzle reel, as it has
nearly all of the scene with the female-boyfriend. After the
surprise, and basically the only scenes they could come up with (at
the pool, a very censored bed scene), she decides to tell what she
sees, and the go to a therapist.
In typical movie logic, instead of being alarmed at what appears to
be a psychotic episode, the doctor chides her for being
self-centered and says something about her desiring gender equality
or something like that.
So we get a montage of her trying to live with him/her, for the
next five or six months, though this lasts for less than a minute.
She concludes that though the woman seems to be striving to be
liked, he misses him. Also, there's no romance anymore, so they
break up.
And so it's exit stage left for the woman-boyfriend that is never
seen again, without this conflict coming to a head or giving any
real solution. My guess is they had a cool idea, but didn't know
what to do with it. They sort of explain it by having her go to a
Church and praying again (Now as opposed to before breaking up?).
In any case, what follows is a looong rehash of the end of Singles,
in being miserable apart, until a chance encounter and happy
reconciliation.
She does state that she's grown and now doesn't want everything to
go her way, which I guess we have to believe, just like at the
start of the movie when she says she's selfish (because why show
with believable dialogue, when you can just say character
traits/motivations).
So, good acting/production, with decent music, but very shlocky,
artificial plot, and horrible pacing.

Oh, as for what is relevant for this forum, there are good scenes
that make it worth it even though it is a small part of the movie,
maybe a third of it. The cool part is when they cut back and forth
between man and woman.
I just wish it was explored more, instead of just being "whelp, she
sees me as a girl".

40 min mark is the pool scene. I was expecting more but was super
duper meh in my opinion. All I skimmed.

Thank you guest 11. I skimmed the movie and it didn’t seem like
there was a typical story structure. Glad to see that I wasn’t
missing anything.
