In this week's episode of Legends of Tomorrow (4x04), Constantine creates a potion and turns Sara and Ava into kids.

One actress easier for filming. Therefore, the superpower will not return.

Most likely the actress is under contract for a certain number of episodes but the producers decided to go a different direction. So they just wrote her in as a disposable character that will likely disappear, one way or another, at the end of her contract.

if you watch the series you would know that the actress has appeared in previous season as a part of the main cast, so it makes sense that they keep her...

But since her arc in the previous season eneded, and as you mentioned she probably still has contract obligations, they used the shapeshifter posing as her permanently as as way to keep the actress around...

And in terms of mythical creatures, last episode had a minotaur, and some other minor mythical creatures are being kept imprisioned at the time bureau headquarters...

There was also an episode this season where Ray and Mick were turned into pigs by the fairy godmother.

Ava and Sara turned into kids
Mick and Ray turned into pigs
Zari turned into a cat
wonder what will be next
