seems like a lot of my favorite captions sites are updating less frequently which is sad. feels like its some of the only content that was constant in the community and now its fading.

From: guest (Captain Pickel) , 67 months, post #2
Look for new captioners and their sites.

The thing about hobbies is that for most people it's a wave. First there is the initial discovery, then enthusiasm, excitement then euphoria. But eventually it peaks, matures and then fades. Boredom sets in and the hobbyist eventually reaches contentment. Sometimes they stop entirely and move onto something else that excites them. Professionals never seem to stop and keep going full blast, but they are the rarity. For most people their hobbies fall to a certain level contentment and produce at a fraction of their peak. It's just the way humans are.

But, the glimmer of hope is that is old for one person is something new to another person. There are captioners, writers and other content producers making newer stuff RIGHT NOW. Some are getting to the hobby for the first time and they'll just shotgun out content while they ride enthusiasm and excitement phases.

While we may miss our favorite producers, life goes on, for them and for you. Find some up and coming creators to keep the feed alive if you're still into it. :)

Jesus. What happened to CelebSwap is fucking heartbreaking.

captain pickel- i like your positivity! that does make sense. a lot of cappers do this for free too so its understandable to get burnt out after awhile. it just seemed like a lot of the larger caps sites were all dying down around the same time. kinda made me take notice. but i'll take your advice and venture out of my comfot zone and do some exploring. maybe my new favorite blog hasnt even been discovered yet!

madaba- i know!! that was such awful news. my heart broke

It's so hard to find captions that are at the very least well written. I apologize if I'm being condescending, but some captions seem like they're being written by children.
Celebswap used to be one of the best I've seen. Shame they're not uploading anymore now. I hope they find peace and are able to move on with their life.

I agree with Pickel that for most captioners it's just a phase in their life. From time to time we have thread here where people announcing that have got enough with captioning & want to move on. One example is the thread below.

I can't speak for all, but I've always had an inner struggle with writing captions and not. I don't like hiding secrets from people, especially from my SO, but I also and drawn to write (because let's face it, writing erotic things feels good). I personally have started and deleted blogs over and over again, and even locked me out of a few others. Some of us struggle with having a secret identity I guess.

While this might be only partly related to your question, this is a good moment to remember to leave feedback if you find a capper you like.

I can't help it and always kinda dip back into capping but I had my bad phases where I stopped because my work didn't create any resonance, and many peers stopped completely because they piled up thousands of views with maybe 3, 4 likes on a cap and no comments at all (and I'm not talking about negative comments, mind you, but the 'audience' not responding to anything in general).

If you stumble upon a capper you like - and yes, there are many new and active ones out there - let them know that you appreciate that they share their work if you want them to continue!

Oh yeah absolutely. There's absolutely a dwindling population of people reading captions on deviantART and I assume blogger as well.

From: DocVS , 67 months, post #10
I felt I needed to throw in my two cents on the matter:

Speaking from my own personal experience and struggles, for me sometimes the inability to create a TG caption stems from the unavailability of doing so, because of RL obligations. I know my own blog has been languishing at the moment, and I do seem to have spurts of resurgence. Interest and attraction I agree also plays a role, but in my case it's from being away from it so long that my excitement and enthusiasm inadvertently falters.

My thought is once whatever stressful situation or event has resolved in the TG capper's RL, then they can be coaxed to caption again. At least that is the case with me. Or maybe i just don't have the gumption to do a daily caption, or cannot place that in my priorities right now.

Regardless, I know the captions aren't what they used to be back in the "heyday" of TG media. I still would very much like to prove things wrong, when given the opportune and ample time to do so.

Pass on a lot of them because the are too heavy into porn.

http://theinsomniactg.blogspot.com is one I look at on a regular basis, just wish they would go a little lighter on young men or boys becoming older women.

I’ve been slowly getting back into caption writing but I end up always deleting my blogger accounts cause I just don’t have the interest. I did make another blogger recently and made a new caption fairly recently, but I just don’t have as much fun doing it as I used too. Plus: I always felt like my captions were looked down on because they were either too average or too samey. I don’t like writing extra long captions and prefer them short if possible.

From: guest (Penguinattack) , 67 months, post #13
Also hating on other people’s preference in caption writing is a hot thing these days. I don’t want to do female to female or female to male or male to male. I also refuse to use young kids cause that’s crossing a boundary to me. I don’t like having my characters turn into disgusting looking people or have them become too old. I think it’s funny how judgemental some of my fans were and I also refuse to just do something cause someone ask me to do it. I ended up going on a tirade on my tumblr calling people who take my captions, but blot out the words to be assholes.

From: guest (Alicia) , 67 months, post #14
As someone who has written a LOT of captions, it's hard to be original after a while. You feel like you're repeating ideas or in some cases repeating THE EXACT SAME THING you may have written five years ago. Some days, you just get tired and turn out something lame -- and those days become more frequent the longer you do it. I don't even want to talk about some of the other demotivating factors that take their tolls over the years.

It’s just an in and out phase I think. Creators come and go.

That said, I really enjoyed CelebSwap’s goodbye series. It’s less fetish writing and more of a romantic story with a TF background.

Echoing the sentiment of a lot of others here - I'm fairly new to the game, but a lack of feedback can be demoralizing toward any creative endeavor. Coupled with real life responsibilities, I sometimes go weeks without making anything new, simply because I can't find time or inspiration. That's why I've never committed to a set schedule - I'd rather take my time and write something I really like and that's of a reasonable quality rather than just churn out to produce a set quantity.

This is one of my recent captions. I’ve tried shying away from more negative captions recently too.
