I'm trying to start website similar to metmorhose.org but
specializing in extreme plastic surgery where one person is
surgically transformed into another person, I guess you could call
that my particular "fetish" but I only have three subjects listed.
Mirror Image by Sandra Brown, Second Lady by Irving Wallace, and
confessions of a she-devil. I won't feel right until I can list
about 100 different books to choose from so if anyone can help make
some suggestions I would be deeply appreciative. Please no
bodyswaps or lookalikes who switch places, I'm just looking for
surgical transformations in literature format. Sorry but I'm a
bookworm who rarely watches television and I want the site to
reflect that.

Try Understudy by Carole Bellacera. A famous actress named named
Robin Mulcahey was in a car accident back in college that killed
her roommate Amy. Turns out Robin was really the one who died and
Amy was the survivor, although disfigured beyond recognition.
Reconstructive surgery gives her Robin's face and identity. She
does all this to stay close to her ex boyfriend Paul, Robin's older
brother! Needless to say things get even stranger from there, good
read.

I don't know if this counts but "face of fear" by John Saul. A
plastic surgeon marries a woman because her daughter has bone
structure identical to his first wife who committed suicide. He
kills a bunch of people for their parts like nose, breast, and
lips. He plans on Frankensteining her into a perfect match for the
dead wife. Dude gets killed by the girl's real father before he can
succeed but I figured it was still worth a mention.

Buzz, your post reminded me of a book I read back in the 90s. Some
guys wife and daughter are killed in a train accident, but he
intentionally misidentifies another injured little girl as his so
he can claim the wife's inheritance. The girl already has amnesia
due to the trauma, so plastic surgery turns her into a perfect
replica of his real daughter. Everything's fine until her brother
comes snooping around about a decade later and discovers the truth.
I can't remember the title off the top of my head, but I think it
was part the zebra horror books, the ones with the cool holograms
on the cover if that helps.

Invisible monsters by Chuck palahniuk.

I also prefer plastic surgery to magical elements. Are you talking
about becoming a specific other person, or just a completely new
identity? There's 'Girl' by David Thomas, about a man who's
accidentally given a sex change and eventually starts living as a
woman.

Both are good, but I would prefer to post ones where some is turned
into an existing person. Like Rachel's post where the girl is
transformed by an accident into her boyfriend's sister. I always
find the psychological concept of identity to be more interesting
when it's with an existing person, rather just a new face, new
identity- hi there I'm John doe. But at this early stage in the
site I'm open to all suggestions. Girl is a good one, so thank you.

I know you don't want movies in your list, but would story like
"Face/Off" qualifies?

Actually the novelization for face/off could be one I would list.
Thank you!

If your ok with novelizations then try 'shattered' based on the
movie with Tom Berenger from like from 1991.

a couple
Metamorpheus by Gayle ( something or other I think) CIA Agent is
surgerical transformed into an assassin's daughter.
If your're intertested in web fiction
CLEANER by Emma Finn. A bored & probably insane super model
switches plces & looks with her fat, ugly cleaner through surgery.

I've got a great one for your site 'Knock-Off Nina' by Vanna B.
Nina Dupree is a famous model whose perfect life is being disrupted
by a lookalike hell-bent on taking over her life. Here's the
kicker, it turns out to be a former overweight male classmate she
use to torment who underwent both plastic surgery and a sex change
to become her double, and he/she ultimately succeeds in killing her
and taking her place by the end of the novel!

Just noticed a mistake I'll correct for you all. The book Eric
mentioned is Masquerade by Gayle Lynds, not Metamorpheus. Easy
mistake to make. Good luck with your site Dreamcatcher. Hope you
make it to 100 books.

Eric, do you have any more details about the Metamorpheus book?
Couldn't find anything, and it sounds very interesting.

Thanks for everyone's help so far. We're up to 11 books! And I
guess I should clarify one thing, Im looking for actual books, not
web fiction for my site. But thanks for that anyways Eric!

Guess we cleared up the mystery behind Eric's post, but has anyone
figured out the one about the little girl and the train accident?
I've been going through a list of the zebra paperbacks since
yesterday and I still can't find it! Sounds like my kind of read.

I don't have any specific book suggestions for you Dreamcatcher,
but your mention of Mirror Image got me thinking. You might want to
try looking up some Harlequin romance novels. The whole amnesia,
accident, plastic surgery, and mistaken identity trope is pretty
infamous among that genre so you could probably find some good
stuff there. I'll ask my wife about some specific titles later
she's a Harlequin junkie, so she probably knows a couple.

Got a nice little messed up harlequin for you. A disfigured girl is
on the run from her corrupt boss, gets into a car accident with a
beautiful woman who talks about going to visit her fiance. The girl
gets misidentified as the driver, and is given the girl's face and
name, only to discover that the woman wasn't the man's fiance, but
his stalker who he moved across the country to escape. Only now
after meeting the nicer more vulnerable version of her, he can't
understand why he's so attracted to her now. It's called 'Half Moon
Bay' by Meryl Sawyer. Enjoy:-)
