The concept of the Lalola series is that a guy who uses his power
to manipulate women in the modeling industry learning what it is
like from the other side.
The show appealed to women and was shown in 150 countries according
to the Dori Media site.
For the most part, that theme has been rejected in Hollywood.
Anything with a man having to go through what women do in the
industry is mocked and rejected. Reviews of Eva Adams were
belittling and mocking.
I wonder if the exposure and acknowledgement that this stuff does
go on, might manifest itself into the mainstream Hollywood
production houses.
Needless to say, it shows how far behind the USA is regarding other
countries when it comes to treatment of women in Hollywood.

It crossed my mind too. I even noticed SWITCH was playing on HBO
today. I feel if more mainstream Hollywood productions do
greenlight anything it'll be less romantic/comedy and more horror
with social commentary.

Would turning Harvey Weinstein into a gorgeous woman be the
punishment he deserves? Do pervert manwhores need to be turned into
gorgeous women to be taught a lesson?

No, he needs to be locked up for the rest of his life,

There have been a lot of high-profile cases of male serial abusers
that have come out recently. Without naming names, four or five
wealthy and famous men have been accused of sexual harassment by a
number of women over the last year or so.
In light of all that, it does seem like now might be the right time
for an American Lalola series or something like it. I think
Hollywood would probably be more receptive now.

"The concept of the Lalola series is that a guy who uses his power

Did we even watched the same show? IIRC his casanovaing are mostly
non-work related. his modus operandi is seducing women away from
their boyfriend & then break their heart. that is being casanova
but hardly related to sexual abuse.
He hold some misogynist view about his women coworkers but that
this is not the same as sexual assault.
"I wonder if the exposure and acknowledgement that this stuff does

No, this is Hollywood we are talking about. They will make 100 more
movies about female superheroes like Wonder Woman & insert female
protagonists into existing properties like Star Wars & Ghostbusters
to show how progressive they are & how guurrlll power is taking
root in Hollywood.
That is the direction they are going to. It is relatively safe
venture without risking the wrath of the PC crowd. The reason show
like Lalolas has not been able to take off is because those works
are not safe for the producers. Just to give few examples.
Lola falls for Facundo? PC Crowd: You are obsessed with
hetereonormative narrative! Missing opportunity to explore LGB
theme! One does not change sexual orientation just because of
gender change!
Lola becoming more feminine? PC Crowd: Bullshit! our gender
something that society teach us to become! a guy suddenly changed
into woman will not change behavior that sudden!
various sexy moments such as the stealing of clothes in the
bathroom & being blackmailed to do sexy photoshoot ? PC Crowd:
outdated soap opera cliches! silly pandering to male gaze!
there are many more examples from the show that I can think of
which will probably hit the trigger of those PC crowd. The point is
that a show like this has so many traps & slopes that makes it not
worthy for the Hollywood producers to try their hand on it in the
current hyper political correct moment where the Hollywood try
desperately trying to appease the PC crowd to maintain their so
called "progressive" credential.
The sad thing is, Latin America countries, where every indicator &
statistic & number are proven to be worse off than the US in
aspects such as gender equality & women safety etc, could have show
like Lalola without any controversy because they do not have these
hypersensitive PC crowd who will shout for your blood every time
you portray something that is "wrong" to them.

The Lalola main character is definitely nowhere near the sleazeball
that Harvey Weinstein appears to be. There isn't a direct
comparison there. But it was only 20 years ago or so that actors
were scared to even play a gay role on TV for fear of getting
typecast. And being out of the closet in Hollywood was career
suicide. Hollywood has been quite judgmental and discriminatory.
While Lalolola made it to the pilot episode stage in America, it
was still mocked and rejected. Meanwhile Lalolola sold in 150
countries (mostly the Argentine version.) It was a metaphor about
women living and working in man's world.
As horrid as this Weinstein case is, it appears that it may shift
some fundamental views in Hollywood about what is acceptable.
Movies like Sam and the Sex Trip that can't get a sniff regarding
mainstream distribution, might get a look some day soon.

By that logic, Massive Solar Flare, Lalola should've been picked up
by the Hollywood years ago and been a hit. The show ended its
successful run in 2008. That was before the country started being
politically correct.

My points still stand. I don't think Weinstein case will have the
effect that you mentioned, but if it has any effect at all, it will
be in the opposite direction than what you hope for. It will
probably cause Hollywood to be more cautious, more politically
correct and more afraid to upset the cart due to the fear of being
labelled misogynist or sexist.
The issue of gender equality has no bearing of why there is no
Lalola in the US yet. Lalolas have been produced in Latin America
countries & in the Philippines which lag behind US in every
indicator of gender equality as well as in European countries where
they are ahead of US in some indicators of gender equality & lag
behind in others.
The reason there is there is no mainstream acceptance for
Lalola-like show is because this kind of story is full of landmines
in the current PC era. As long as the hyper PC atmosphere exists, a
show like Lalola will have low possibility of seeing the light of
the day. I already give plenty examples above of how some standard
story line in this kind of show will have the possibility of
offending the hyper-sensitive type of people that Hollywood is
pandering onto.

My post above is a reply to Holly.
To Valkan,
I will say that even in 2009 (when the Eva Adams pilot being made),
the PC culture already reared its head, though the term itself
might not catch on yet.
Another thing is that the pilot was pitched to Fox, a network tv
station, instead of premium cable which at that time started to
supplant the networks as prime provider for quality tv. We all know
networks are constrained by advertisement money and are more
risk-averse. If Eva Adams was pitched instead to premium cable at
that time maybe it would have chance. Maybe. Now, the chance is
slimmer than ever.
