... about what happens in some webcomics where the person doing the
transforming walks away leaving their victims to deal with
something completely off the wall?
Looking at Bloomin' Faeries, and a fellow gave a young maiden a
very long tongue which would be impossible to- um, have food with.
Jeanie in a bottle touches on the forgotten men that have been
changed into women and left as such, but very little is said.
I always wonder what happened to those people, how will they
survive, or how will they explain their sudden transformation to a
different gender to their family and friends, etc
yes, I know, I have been told all the usual things- "it is just a
comic," and "you are getting way to deep into this," and so forth.
I think there is often more of a story in the "what happens next?"

Jeanie from I Dream of a Jeanie Bottle is a complete asshole.
That's that character summed up in a nutshell. Last I read of it,
there was one character in such a predicament trying to track
Jeanie down where those exact issues were raised (Agent Anderson)
but I haven't been back since that happened.
This particular webcomic deals with that exact issue front and
center on a regular basis and the questions not answered are
probably because it hasn't gotten there yet.

(Use Comic Rocket and its toolbar and arrows at the top to advance
the page because they're reporting some skipped pages and other
errors with their own pages when you use the arrows below the
page.)
Public interest declaration, I plug this webcomic whenever there's
an excuse.
Misfile's another that's getting around to dealing with those
issues but at around 3,500 pages, it's extremely long. Also, some
of those issues aren't a problem for everyone other than the main
character ... but not for reasons they're at all thrilled about.

- 2 - I am a writer, my first book will be coming out at the
beginning of the year (after a second go with the editor)
I have written much fan fiction under other names.
My point is that the original writer is leaving a very large story
unfinished, and that it would be interesting to have things
completed.
Air Gear - you are so right on Jeanie being a total dick.
would be interesting to see a story that follows more of the
forgotten characters- like Melvin Chronicles (which is kind of dead
right now, bad sadly does not follow much of the effected
character's life)
Anyway- it's not a bitch, its just an observation
have a great day everyone

Well, you don't really know when a story's going to be abandoned
until it happens, quite possibly the person creating it didn't know
until it actually happened either. A risk that befalls many a
webcomic, actually.

I think the Ann Onymous web comic turned 4 jocks/bullies into ditzy
cheerleaders and then gave them a spinoff. Also a math or science
teacher got turned from a middle age white guy into a short asian
girl who popped up now and then as student and minor character.
I find these things are either disturbing or have potential that's
missed, depending on the situation. Not just in web comics but in
movies, books, TV. More often it's disturbing but can be forgiven
when it's done in a light medium like a comic. I suppose that's why
they do it to disposable characters. It's meant as a joke, not an
excuse to explore impacts psychological or otherwise.
Remember when exiern was a humor comic back when it was drawn on a
napkin or with a mouse or something? It didn't really turn serious
until around the time they could afford a professional artist.

You mean The Wotch? (and The Wotch: Cheer). That was probably more
disturbing than anything else.
As for Exiern, that spun off a joke made in The Wotch, in one scene
they tried to summon a unicorn and ended up with a Uricarn demon,
while at the start of Exiern, they tried to summon a Uricarn demon
and got ... well, I think you can join the dots.

This reminds me of something in the Douglas Adams book 'So Long and
Thanks For All the Fish.' Arthur's girlfriend remembers a poster on
her wall from when she was a girl, and how she mistakenly believed
an otter in the picture was being forced to pull a raft, and how
that had always bothered her in the back of her head. It's funny
how we can empathize with a fictional character.

DB - ya, it's kind of freaky, but for an author- readers having
emotional reaction is what you are looking for

http://www.bloomingfaeries.com/comic/public/bloomin-faeries-401/
just an example or two
http://www.bloomingfaeries.com/comic/public/bf0088-heather/
The first is more recent and the second is a bit old and has only
been looked at once or twice.
as I said this is just an example, but there are plenty of side
characters that have been effected by the main characters
activities and been lost in the past

I think pacing in webcomics can be an issue. Exiern is showing a
plot point just now that last was seen in 2009. I imagine it would
like to be able to go faster but then money comes into it and the
cost of making it in the first place ...

Air Gear - I did not know that, I will have to go back into the '09
comic. Its been so long I clearly forgot about the story line.
Exiern has gotten such bad art work lately that its almost hard to
enjoy the comic, I think I would rather read it as text only then
look at the comic
