Indian version of Lalola would seem to suggest otherwise.

most of lalolas are bodyswap but the Indian version probably isn't.
I I say "probably" because I am not sure what going on in the
ending...

Actually the Indian version kind of is. Well, half of one at least.
I'll explain when I finally get around to writing about it in the
multiverse thread. I really should do that this weekend, shouldn't
I?

I wouldn't think they are banned
, per se. Maybe it doesn't have as much appeal as all the
disguise/transformation themed stuff they use rather often (since
they produce so much).
It seems that some cultures use these themes to show an antagonist
"violating" the trust and/or reputation of the "good guys" in the
story. Maybe they don't see it as an opportunity to explore
identity or gender role themes.
Miss Ya-Ya Miss (or whatever the official name) did seem to explore
that aspect but I don't recall if they used the "Switch" paradigm
or the Lalola one (where it's technically a swap in most of them
but you don't learn it to much later).
Maybe when you have reincarnation, you just don't need to fantasize
about body swapping. :-)

It was a remake of Switch. Don't know if it was a licenced remake,
I'm inclined to think not.

They claimed it was inspired by Hot Chick to hide the fact that it
was a rip-off of Switch. This kind of thing is very common in
Indian cinema.
