I just bought Issue 3 at my local comic store, I stop by there about once a month.

From: Air Gear , 80 months, post #22
Looks like #6 is the final one (found the synopsis).

Pity, there's enough there for twice that at least without dragging it out.

Maybe there'll be an opening for another miniseries later on.

Well, just read Issue #4 which seems to make it even more obvious than #3 that both parties in the swap actually prefer things as they are now than going back to how things were.

From: guest (guest2) , 79 months, post #24
That is awesome. I hope they don't switch back.

From: Air Gear , 79 months, post #25
Well, it certainly wouldn't fit with everything that's happened up to this point (and especially the last two issues) if they did.

From: guest (hi) , 79 months, post #26
Is it worth picking up if I wasn't really digging issue #2?

From: Air Gear , 79 months, post #27
Well, a lot of the things that people were disappointed about not happening in Issue 1 and 2 have happened in Issue 4, so maybe the option is to go to the Image Comics site and buy the downloads directly. Issues 1,2,3 are $1.99 electronically and the electronic Issue 4 will be $1.99 in a month.

One possible option is for anyone who hasn't read any of it, wait until one month after Issue 6 is released and buy it all as 6 separate issues for $11.94 as an electronic download.

From: guest , 79 months, post #28
It's also available through Amazon/Comixology for the same price.

So, in light of Del's comments back in the first issue("I know all about you."), and the whole "Oh, thank God" comment, and how he's acted since, anyone else thinking Case is trans and he will be reluctant to swap back?
Yes, Del's comments could apply to the feds, and him covering for Case, but they could also have other meanings. Oh well, we'll find out in future issues.

It's certainly possible, we don't know all that much about these characters before the start of the story. I'm hoping for something more prosaic as an explanation as paradoxically, in this case I think that would be both something different and more interesting.

Specifically, I'm wondering if Cason is just over it. Regardless of the money and seeming social status, he's just had to kill a close friend (not a spoiler is it? - that's literally the opening scene), work for an utterly psychotic boss, work in even closer proximity with a psychotic lunatic and since Cason's not stupid, he must know it's only a matter of time and that that time is likely soon before he ends up dead no matter what he does (the people around him are crazy) even if he was not in any way involved with the authorities.

So, I guess he must be relieved just to be able to catch his breath without the ever present threat of being shot and/or stabbed and for that alone, I can see him actually not having a problem with the situation and preferring to leave things as they are. Beats being horribly butchered, for starters.

I mean, I guess I can see how the whole bit of narration at the start that "One says, Oh my God." while the other says "Oh thank God." is trying to be a plot twist but right off the bat, I thought it seemed obvious the best fit was Juniper doing the "Oh my God." bit because she's gone from just doing some shopping to being suddenly thrust into a room covered in blood complete with mutilated corpses and people waving guns around. Ditto Cason having the other reaction precisely because he's no longer there.

To add to that, it seems fairly clear that Cason didn't have the best of times growing up either and he seems to actually be having fun experiencing something he missed out on growing up even if this isn't quite how he expected the experience would play out for him if it ever came to pass.

There's a very telling moment which was quite subtly slipped in, I missed it the first few times when this happens in the conversation that Cason and Juniper finally end up having on the phone for the first time:

Cason: "Get some rest, we're gonna survive this."

Juniper: "And get our lives back?"

Cason: "... Sure. And get our lives back."

Those three dots/that ellipsis. A definite pause there before replying.

I didn't even think of the Oh my god/Oh thank god thing as being a response to the immediate situation. I guess since the pages of the switch had been released months before as the preview, I ended up spending the first issue trying to find hidden meanings into what everyone said to each other, rather than just sitting back and reading it. You may be correct. Sometimes a spade is just a spade.

I think it's worth remembering that we're unavoidably being drip-fed the story. It's something I've especially noted with webcomics where you might get a page or less a week. People end up dissecting things like crazy (and complaining and protesting quite often) when the answer/solution/resolution turns out to be just around the corner.

I mean, just by looking at Issues 1-4 in total, a lot of things raised about the first issue have been looked at by the the 4th and presumably there'll be more to come in 5 and 6.

Additional things I didn't mention, Cason definitely found Juniper was having issues with various people in her life but for someone like him, it was child's play to deal with compared to what and who he usually had to worry about after among other things, he dished out the requisite beatings.

But there's more to it than simply clubbing people who need clubbing with a frying pan, I think he sees something similar to his own growing up in what Juniper's step-son is going through so after the much needed clip around the ear, he certainly seems to have taken him under his wing and providing some guidance that he presumably felt he would have liked in his life back then. So, that's been quite an interesting plot line so far.

Juniper, once she's gotten over the shock of being thrust into sudden and escalating mass murder and being able to catch her breath, is actually finding that she likes people actually listening to her and being respected for once.

She's still out of her depth (what Cason's been living with needs years of developed skill to handle and a healthy dose of luck), though and shown by what she's planning to do to deal with Cruz, the hitman whose girlfriend/fiance Cason was having an affair with. Sure, points for finally starting to assert herself now that she's been given the platform to do so but given she's seen Cruz commit multiple acts of murder, hiring a bunch of people to just 'beat him up' isn't going to cut it and will end badly.

I think the next (and last) episode or two are going to be quite illuminating.

That is a problem with comics in general these days. The whole concept of trade-waiting, which causes the individual issues to not sell well, which leads to a series to be cancelled due to low sales, only for it to be a huge success in when the trade comes out.

It has been an enjoyable series so far. Hopefully things will resolve nicely in the end.

From: Air Gear , 79 months, post #34
Well, I hope they have plans to do a second arc at some point. If this is an initial 6 issue arc, with two issues left, they can wrap up the plot line with Cruz and their boss by the end of it.

However, I can't see it being enough time to even start with anything to do with the actual body swap which up to now has literally only shown one mysterious phone call to each of the parties involved and that mysterious homeless guy who's cropped up a few times and so far just been cryptic.

I can't rule out the possibility that's it's both 6 issues and done and they resolve the whole swap issue satisfactorily - it's still possible I guess but it'd be not the easiest thing to pull off.

Also, I'd really rather see 12 than 6 (or at least >6 than 6) but I guess we'll see soon enough!

From: Random , 79 months, post #35
There's also the possibility that it will just be going on hiatus, as that seems to be something that Image comics likes to do these days. Saga has been doing it for a while, and Black Magick also returned from hiatus(which was a surprise. Just one day, well over a year since the previous issue, a new issue shows up).

As for it ending at issue 6, on the one hand if a complete story is told then it is good. On the other hand, there are many stories that could come from the situation, even if most of the common tropes are avoided. I guess we'll have to see if Simone can stick the landing.

From: Air Gear , 79 months, post #36
Well, it could end after 6 issues and then they might decide at a later date to come up with more story (like for Blade Runner 2).

But if that's the case, hopefully we won't have to wait so long (like for Blade Runner 2).

Just saw this on Comic Book Resources -

http://www.cbr.com/crosswind-tv-series-gail-simone-cat-staggs/

Apparently they are planning of developing the comic into a TV show. Of course, the number of comic series that have been optioned to become TV shows(and movies) is pretty high, with nothing ever coming of it, but who knows.

From: Air Gear , 79 months, post #38
Thank you for finding that. I was thinking it could make a good film or TV Show.

Hopefully it will lead to more issues past #6 if nothing else (if that wasn't the intention already).

From: Random , 79 months, post #39
Yeah. Hopefully it means that they will continue. And hopefully if they do make a show out of it they'll keep the serious tone of the comic, and not descend into sitcom territory.

From: Air Gear , 79 months, post #40
But of course you can still have humor in a serious drama. Sometimes, those jokes and comedic moments are the funniest precisely because the overall tone is played straight.
