I bet 1 googol dollars that The Doctor will not wear a dress or
skirt in his new female body.

I think it's amazing to come here and find the TF/TG fans are more
reasonable than the regular fans of the show.
As a long time Doctor Who fan, I'm trying to keep an open mind, and
wait to see her in action before passing judgment. Odds are I'll
probably keep watching regardless.

The show was becoming garbage in my opinion. After 2014 the plots
just kept getting dumber.
This however, might just save it but that's just because I'm into
this sort of thing. As are a lot of us.
I can't help but wonder if the writers will still suck though.
Hopefully the plot will also pick up.

I blame the plots becoming worse on Moffat. Hopefully with the new
show runner things will get better. Although, I think it has also
been rumoured that the new show runner is more willing to allow
studio interference, so who knows what we will get.
I guess we shall find out next year.

The show has really fallen off in the last two years. I'm as
excited about new behind the camera people as I am about a new
doctor.
But Whittaker was terrific in Broadchurch. I think she'll be a very
interesting choice. It's too bad there's no one who knows the old
doctor on hand for the transformation. I'd really like to see the
reaction of an Amy Pond or Clara.

I dunno. I was pretty happy with Capaldi -- liked him a lot better
than Matt Smith -- but definitely Tennant was the best of the
2005-and-later group. Regardless, I am looking forward to this as
well and, amazingly, don't care too much about the M2F aspect of
it. I definitely want her to be playing the Doctor as a woman not
the Doctor as a woman-who-used-to-be-a-man.

I loved Clara. She was one of my favorite Doctor companions.
Too bad the show was headed downhill around the time she was
introduced.
Why did they have to kill her off? That was unnecessary. They are
seriously hung up on this idea that all of his companions have to
suffer a tragedy akin to death. But anyway, yeah, overhaul of the
writers is recommended. The last few years the show lost something
that I personally loved.

You only one I know who liked Clara many Doctor Who fans hated her
for being Mary Sue and overshadowing the Doctor. And Clara not dead
she traveling with Ashsdir in her own Tardis across the universe.

I liked Clara also. At first. The problem with her(and with Amy,
and to a lesser extent Rose and Donna) is that she had a story arc
tied to her. She was the Impossible Girl(Girl Who Waited, Bad Wolf,
Doctordonna). And her story arc was resolved, and then she stayed
on, and on, and on, and on, and on. Also, Moffat made her the focus
of the show. The Doctor felt a guest star in his own show.
Things I hope for going forward:
- No more companion in love with the Doctor.
- Companion is a companion. No more of the companion having lives
on Earth, and the Doctor just whisking them away for a quick
adventure and bringing them back to when they left.
- No more modern day Earth. They can go anywhere and any when.
That's all I can think of for now, although I'm sure there's more.

I think yall are over thinking it. I'll agree that her "character
evolution" was lack luster, but that's because of a lack luster
writer. (Cite "The Moon is an Egg." Lack luster is me being nice).
I'll also say that my least favorite companion since the reboot was
Amy. She was irritating to me for some reason.
But back to Clara, she technically is supposed to be dead. Idk why
they keep doing this crappy "traveling the Universe with random
other immortal chick" thing. They've done this twice now and it's a
crappy plot device, nothing but a shadow of when they did it on the
Titanic episode. At least that was well done and somewhat
beautiful.
Honestly I'd have felt more emotion for the episode of they
actually killed her off. Instead she's what, undead?
@Random, I can agree with that. I'd also add "More compelling plot
lines." Like some sort of season-long mystery or something more
chaotic but connected.

For those of us who do not watch Dr. Who, does the new doctor
remember being whom they were before?
So will the new doctor have the memory of a man now in the body of
a woman?
|
From: DaveS
, 81 months, post #32 |
@guest (KJ) The Doctor ideally retains all previous memories of
previous incarnations/regenerations but they have shown in the past
to occasionally be fuzzy from one regeneration to the next. The
personality definitely changes with the new body, however, and as
was seen with The Master/Missy in recent seasons, the change can
bring about a different perspective on things.
So I have no doubt that the 13th Doctor will not just look like a
woman, but generally act like a woman as opposed to a man in a
woman's body. What aspects of femininity #13 exhibits... well that
will be entirely up to Ms. Whittaker and the new show runner Chris
Chibnall.
By the way, as the Doctor has been known to occasionally go out in
period clothes, I would definitely take the bet that 13 won't wear
dresses or skirts... she probably will. Perhaps they won't be part
of her usual "signature" costume, but saying will not or never is
ridiculous. I'd bet she ditches the pantsuit for some kind of
frilly period costume in the first five episodes.

I imagine for the most part the Doctor will be unphased by her
reincarnation as a woman - I think it's been stated that her people
are way beyond such things as differences in gender. I can imagine
her facing sexism in either past (or present) Earth and hopefully
she puts them firmly in their place.

Each regeneration of the Doctor can have a widely different
personality from their predecessor. In fact, Ten (Tennant) and
Eleven (Matt Smith) being so much alike (and getting along like a
house on fire precisely
because they had so many similar mannerisms and personalities as
seen in The Day of the Doctor) is the exception to the rule.
Usually they're nothing alike from one version to the next.

It's funny how Tennant and Smith were my favorites. I didn't like
Capaldi all that much. He did good in some ways but I think they
tried too hard to give him a sort of callous angle. He definitely
had less love for humans than previous incarnations. At the same
time other aspects about him made him very "Doctorly."

I don't really care if the doctor is male, female, gender fluid, or
a flipping rhinoceros, as long as there's some sort of Possession
arc.
The way I see it, a female doctor just means it's the perfect time
for Androvax to make an appearance in the main series.

just hack writing....create new female characters don't destroy
iconic characters to appease dumb a$$ liberals...so lame, President
already turned into a woman , Master became Missy a woman...so hack
for a ground breaking show
Lib movement is pathetic for their inability to create and their
urge to destroy!!

What on earth are you going on about?
|
From: A Pseudonym

I mean, of all the characters that can effortlessly change genders
with little to no repercussions on the character, Doctor Who has to
be the best choice. For one, he's already been a woman, and he's
always been a kind of weird, sexually oblivious entity (even when
Billie god damn Piper kissed him full on the mouth).
I just pray to god they don't shoehorn in some unnecessary romance
plot with a random male character while the Doctor is female. It
would annoy me if he suddenly became all vulnerable and sensitive
just because he's now a she.
