Is Dogmann still around? I haven't seen if he finished all those
uploaded he'd planned yonks ago, there's some on Fiction Branches
and some on BEA but ntohing consistent.
That writing.com archive file for archive.org is horribly out of
date now, most of the interactives captured by it have now been
deleted, so even old content the archive used to store is gone
(whether by directive of w.c or just that they're so old no one was
viewing them).
In this day and age of AI, might be able to easily script a
mechanism to mass upload the backups to FB3 or to BEA in their
entirity and uaotmatically.

That only retains intereactives from after that project started.
Dogmann and the writing.com archive project both were scraping and
recapturing interactives from before that era.

Most old interactive stories were just lost, sadly.
It is gone, unless someone saved them – which, thanks to writing .
com owner never implementing such native functionality to easily
export all chapters of a interactive story, made it very unlikely
people did that through the years, since you would have to either
do it manually or write a script to do it.
What could be savaged from Wayback Machine was already savaged (I
crawled the site for literally mouths, to find stories, and all
stories someone had saved somewhere there, there's about 250k
stories pre-2018, which are already on the archiving project).

There's a few stories that you can find on the spreadsheet that
haven't been uploaded into the archive viewer though.

Unfortunantly it also seems to have gone the other way, some older
stories are now gone from archive.orgg, the reason literally being
'DMCA takedown requests by the site owner'

Tights, i think you run the archive document, right or the
achtketer.itch.io site?
In any case, whomever is running the w.c archiver, i noticed
something. Older interactives from pre-2014 used a different
content format for retreiving data, rather than /action/map/ they used /interactive/cid/ instead.
I'm trying to see if i can correlate these things using the
archive.org API and a bit of help from Anthropic, been getting
mixed results. Might be another way to find extra missing stories
from long ago if they were stored under the old format.
the other thing i noticed was the host seems to fluctuate between a
few different things. I've found some are http://www.writing.com:80
rather than https://writing.com, so there may be some xover there
too.
I'll post some more info when i have something.

>they used /interactive/cid/ instead.
Brayn, yes, they did. I've check for that same thing, trying to
find alternative URLs stories might have got archived throughout
the years, when I first build the archive. I managed to find 70k
cid stories path stories. You can see them here on the first line,
it is a tab split document with the URLs of each story.
https://archive.org/download/writing_tf/story-database.xml
I also managed to find some stories from when the writing.com was
(also?) named stories.com, from 2000 to 2004 or so. I found 2100
stories.

Kidd, sadly the only thing it got archived from that story was the
synopsis .
