When he is ready he will post here. No need to constantly bugging him here!

I've been falling behind on this, haven't I? OK, this post is the summary and conclusion for Portugal which it turns out I never formally put together in the one place.

What was a bit different about this one was that the audience got to vote on how it ended. There's an obvious drawback to that.which I'll get to but it did have a cool ad for whether or not the main character should return to being Julio or stay as Julieta.

One ending, he decides to change back:

The other ending, she does not:

The obvious problem with this approach, I thought was that you couldn't really film very much post the choice because you couldn't really justify spending money on two divergent storylines for very long where one's effectively discarded. So, it's only a few minutes of each.

Secondly, the film montage of everything the main character has been through (and representing them reminiscing before making their choice) is somehow using the exact same footage to explain coming to two exactly opposite decisions.

I'll go into this more in the next post (which will be much sooner than more than 2 weeks) but there was quite a missed opportunity with this one. It's still my favorite for a few reasons though, also as you'll see in the next post.

I logged 240 Margosha episodes for TG content. Where is the most appropriate place to post in this forum? Should I create a permanent entry?

Not every episode is mentioned, but ones with significant TG content like the photoshoot, the first kiss, the first nightgown, earrings, etc.

Sounds like a question for CJ but if I had to guess, that much detail would be worth a permanent entry but in the interim, I couldn't see the harm of its own forum thread.

Air Gear, what did you think about the episode in the Portuguese Lalola where the guy goes swimming in a black one piece and is encouraged by his father to jump off the diving board? Was there some type of hidden deep message behind it? And seriously would it have killed them to show more of the Lalo in the black one piece swimsuit?

From: Air Gear , 81 months, post #88
I don't think there was any deeper meaning than Julio wanting to show that he'd conquered one of his fears, namely that of jumping off a high diving board. Having survived robbery at gunpoint, this all seemed rather small beer in comparison.

Overall, the Portuguese version was a bit of an odd one. The most 'realistic' of them all but an odd one all the same.

So why was he able to wear a black one piece swimsuit at a pool but basically refused to wear a skirt or dress to work besides that one event they had at night at their work?

From: Air Gear , 80 months, post #90
Probably because he's a man and dresses as such?

From: guest (Bud) , 80 months, post #91
Okay, I'll allow it.

Can you believe it's been 10 years since the first Lalola aired? The first episode aired on August 28th 2007. 10 years!

I wonder if we will ever see another version of Lalola.

From: Air Gear , 80 months, post #92
That's nothing. It's more than twenty years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer first aired. Get your head around that.

Will you be reviewing the version from Chile? I have been trying to watch it on YouTube, but several episodes are missing. Thanks.

From: Air Gear , 80 months, post #94
I'm planning to. Schedule is India, then Peru. I could probably do both Peru and Chile in parallel. I do like how Chile just totally cut loose and effectively went totally wild and crazy with the idea. Made the others look quite sedate in comparison.

I'll take your Buffy the Vampire Slayer being 20 years old and raise it to Batman the Animated Series turning 25 years old today.

Several of the Lalola's are on Youtube. Here are some things in the original Lalola that I loved that were not followed:

1) Episode 10--when the TV went out while watching soccer, the original Lalola screamed in a horror victim high voice and then grabbed his/her throat in non-belief. None of the other Lalolas did this (please correct me if I am wrong.)

2) Episode 11--The original Lalola while watching TV is flipping channels and sees some dresses advertised. He/she comments and then catches what he/she did with a facial expression and some words.

3) Episode 15--After being forced into a double date with Grace, Lalola takes Facunda. At the the end of the night, Facunda gives Lalola a peck on the lips. Laloloa goes into conflict. The visual conflict part wasn't followed in other versions.

There are things to love about the various versions. I wish more had followed the early episodes of the original.

I haven't forgotten about this thread. General comment, I'm glad each show to some degree carved its own path but by the same token, I'm sure there were things from the original that were worth using that weren't.

What can you say about Λόλα ("Lola") Greece?

From: guest (Bud) , 79 months, post #100
Call it a plot hole or "it's a TV show" but why didn't Grace or Lalo ever wonder why Lola's body had pierced ears?
