I was just wondering... you figure people like us probably account
for at least 2-5% of the world (if not more), and there's gotta be
at least one celeb who has seen metamorphose.org or fictionmania,
right?
Just wondered if you guys had any guesses on celebs that seem like
they'd be one of us from interviews, comments, the media they
create, etc.
My personal guess is Joss Whedon... that Buffy scene with her in
the mirror was just a little too on point.

Well, we already know a few minor celebrities... they just aren't
as well known outside of our little world. I would list you all,
but you know who you are (and I don't want to accidentally forget
to name anyone).
As for well-known (or fairly well-known) celebrities... and
excluding those who are already out as being transgendered, have
already transitioned, or are living an... "alternate" lifestyle
(CD, etc)...
I'll give you Joss Whedon, though. Actors and Actresses would be a
more difficult lot to place. The main exposure that I have to them
is through the camera and mostly scripted. They mostly play for the
lens the characters that are created by others.
I would think that any production or creative endeavor that centers
greatly around magic use or certain super-human powers would almost
be a shoe-in for at least one person on their creative team to be a
frequent visitor.
It seems that many one-time stories are derivatives of others'
work, so it's difficult to know if it's just being played as a
one-off, or if someone was genuinely interested in the material.
For current media... I'd think that Todd Strasser probably visits
us (or should).
I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that we're more likely
to have celebrity visitors from SE Asia and India than from Europe
and North America.
Celebrities who give me that "vibe" that they might be inclined to
be frequent visitors here:
Dustin Hoffman
Madonna
Meg White
maybe Pierce Brosnan
maybe Katee Sackhoff
and
I believe that John Candy was one us.

Really- Uncle Buck was one of us? Did he crossdress? I'd be curious
to better understand your rationale, CJ. To think that I have
something in common with him makes me happy :-)

"Did he crossdress? I'd be curious to better understand your
rationale..."
IDK about his CDing IRL, but there was that one movie "Nothing But Trouble"
... and I think also either "Who's Harry Crumb"
or "Once Upon a Crime..."
... But that's not why. Plenty of actors CD, but just for the
script, the part, or the laughs.
I don't have any quantitative data or reasoning... it's just a gut
feeling.

Joss Wheadon is a good call. I think I could see that.
I always wondered if Jimmy Fallon was since he had the segmant on
his show called Head Swap. Then, on his new Tonight Show, he did
this bit with Jennifer Lawrence and made a reference to them seeing
each other's face in a mirror. Link below!

I have a suspicion that Blake Edwards, writer/director of Switch
and Victor/Victoria was into TG.

I don't know if it's TG and how big of a "celebrity" you'd consider
him but X-Men writer Chris Claremont's fetishes (bondage,
lesbianism, dominant women and transformations in general) were
always on full display in his comics.

Rugal - that's probably just his outlet for sexual fantasies and
fetishes. :-)
Oh, Blake Edwards... how'd I miss that. ~smh~
Interesting on Jimmy Fallon - I'll have to keep an eye on his
antics now.

I was on a reality tv show and it's pretty well known. I'll keep it
at that but I don't know if I would consider myself a celeb

Mara - if it was more than one episode, you should consider
yourself to be (at least a minor) celebrity. Not that I'd recognize
you - I rarely watch those reality shows. Though the trailer-trash
redneck in me does catch part of an episode of "COPS" every so
often.

Hi,
I could remember (separate) interviews with Liam Neeson and Johnny
Depp in a (serious) German news magazine. In these interviews both
stressed the idea of becoming a woman for some time. I dont know,
if this counts. In the case of Liam Neeson, I was surprised that he
mentioned this. In Depps case, I was not so surprised.

I think most people do, it's human nature.
A farm animal will stand in a field all day chewing grass, but most
human beings would go out of their minds in the same situation, we
dream of seeing the world, or having a better job, of living a life
that isn't our own. It makes us explorers and scientists.
Transformation in all its forms, real or fantasy are part of being
human and I have trouble believing anyone that wouldn't admit to
wishing to be transformed or swapped or transported. Some humans no
doubt are more curious then others and for some people that
curiosity is not just a desire but a sexual desire.
So I'd not be surprised by celebrities having such interests, even
if it's not something they fixate on every day of their lives.

I could see Blake Edwards or Rolph Kanefsky and maybe a few other
names mentioned having a passing curiosity about this site but I
don't know about it being a lifestyle.
I absolutely disagree with the idea that just because an actor did
a movie about TG means that it's a subject matter that does or
always has interested him or her. It's a classic cliche' that
"silly/goofy/wacky" humor uses drag as a comedic tool, and usually
ineffectively if you ask me. Did Milton Burle do drag because the
laugh was a cheap goto like a pie in the face or because writers
knew that he was willing to drag out (sorry for the pun) that old
warhorse? There was clearly no "exploration" of the psychological
impact. Sometimes they might have seen an opportunity to couch
cheap humor into the guise of social commentary. Sometimes it was
just lazy silliness standing in for any incisive observation of the
ridiculousness of social/gender roles.
That said, can someone enlighten me as to why Josh Whedon's name
came up and can I reiterate post #2's request for info on which
"mirror scene" in Buffy is being referred to?
That Josh Whedon enjoys and is willing to portray strong, heroic
females has labelled him a feminist, but I hope that's not the
basis of assuming he's into TG.
Also, on the subject of more general transformations, I personally
find one interesting aspect in the visual media to be the
technology (and it's history) of portraying a (physical)
transformation. I would hope that Hollywood would check this
database at least for reference.

guest (#15) -- You should probably re-read the previous posts
again. :-)
We're not necessarily discussing a celeb's lifestyle... as much as
how many have visited our little site.
"I absolutely disagree with the idea that just because an actor did
a movie about TG means that it's a subject matter that does or
always has interested him or her."
Where are you getting that? My posts 3 and 5 pretty much state the
same thing you are: An actor's gender-bending in a production is a
product of the script, not necessarily representative of their own
nature.
Now, if you meant "actor, writer, creator, or producer" instead of
just "actor"... then yeah, I agree with you. But if said celebrity
often explores (not just touches upon) such themes, where one goes
through a major physical change and then must then fight to return,
or discover how to adapt... well, then they just might have that
kind of thing on their mind all the time. That said - if the celeb
uses swaps or TFs often... like really often, even if they're just
played for laughs... well, you never know.
Don't forget that this site is not TG-only, it catalogs all types
of transformations, not just gender.
As for Josh Whedon -- I don't know the guy, nor have I seen all of
his work. What press, news, and creations of his that I've seen...
well, his work seems to be the product of intelligent empathy which
could mean that he's imagined himself in the shoes of others, and
his work seems focused on identity and discovery of one's self.
I've seen nothing to indicate that his characters are all the same,
they seem to quite diverse. And the subject material that he works
with... the universes and characters he uses... often lend
themselves to supernatural or technological swaps, possessions, and
transfers. That's why I didn't argue against him being a possible
visitor.
That also means I can't answer the "mirror scene" question.

cj, I certainly wasn't attacking or addressing yours or anyone
else's posts specifically but rather the tenor of some of the
previous answers. gah pondered about celebs just visiting the
website but the next paragraph was about those who might be "one of
us". I took that to mean regular visitor and was addressing that,
not the question of those who might have at some time stumbled
across our little community.
As for who *might* be curious about this sort of stuff such that
they might frequent this site specifically, I have no clue right
now and am curious as to what others think and why. I was just
strongly--but hopefully not in a hostile way--disagreeing with the
reasons that a few mentioned involving the fact that they had
agreed to be in a particular movie. :-)
Actually, I take it back. Pedro Almovodar is another name that
comes to mind. He's probably never been here but would sort of be
"one of us", maybe. (Gawd, I sound like a Todd Browning movie)
Don't forget that this site is not TG-only, it catalogs all types
of transformations, not just gender.
I know the site isn't TG only. I was trying to reference that in
the last paragraph of my post and was lamenting that it isn't a
better known resource for cataloging that sort of stuff like it
should be. I like lots of different transformations. :-B
I'm curious about the Meg White and Pierce Brosnan references. Did
they say anything that hinted they were curious about
transformation.

"I certainly wasn't attacking or addressing yours or anyone else's
posts..."
I didn't think you were. Hence the smiley.
Ah. Different interpretations of "one of us". You see it as a
frequent visitor here... I saw it as "interest in TFs"
I guess I'm still missing the part where you see the, " involving the fact that they had agreed to be in a particular
movie."
My guesses
(including Ms White and Mr Brosnan) were just the limited
exposures that I've seen or read... not productions where they
acted a character. It's just sort of the vibe I get from them. It's
impossible for me to really quantify.
No worries though. It's interesting to think about, and guess at.
And to see what others think too.

work. Thanks for the new (to me) information.

Jennifer Lawrence, I want to say, would enjoy this stuff if she
starred in a movie with a swap or possession.
