Have you looked into something like this?
http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-VC500-Touch-Capture-Device/dp/B000VM60I8/
May be easier/simpler/cheaper than a converting player .

in theory, connect the output from a vhs player to the input of a
DVD recorder, and play one while recording the other. that should
transfer it to dvd

The problem is that VHS is analog and DVD is digital so you need a
conversion device to do this,
A VHS/DVD recorder has one built in but they are very expensive.
Normal DVD recorders today are wholly digital unless they were made
before the TV switched.

sorry for the incorrest answer. they stopped teaching primitive
technology 101 at the academy a few years ago. It did seem like a
logical response...

"where are our friends from the u.k."
We're all watching our Big Meg Little Meg Blu-Ray boxsets and
chuckling to ourselves whenever someone has the gall to ask for an
online copy.
Seriously though, it was a kids' TV show that was originally shown
a decade ago, hasn't been broadcast in years (and isn't likely to
be) and was never released on VHS, DVD or any other format (and
isn't likely to be). We're all going to have to hope that someone
with a recording eventually rips a copy but, until then, constantly
asking isn't going to help. No one on this site has it, simple as.
