I find myself increasingly dissatisfied with the sort of stories you find on fictionmania. I wonder if anyone could recommend some good gender transformation stories with a real plot.

I'm pretty picky so I'll just list what I'm interested are:
-Gender transformations are preferred although if it's well written I sometimes enjoy body swaps
- No 'identity death', bondage or forced fem.
- No cross-dressing whatsoever
- I prefer that the character not wish to be transformed, but I do occasionally enjoy a story where the character desires the change so long as it's well written.
- Stories that aren't just about sex. There can be sex, but there needs to be an actual story.
- A decent plot. It doesn't have to be the same quality as say a published story but it needs to be engaging.
- Engaging and memorable characters
- Some serial stories are okay, but most just go on for far too long. If I do read a serial I do prefer it be finished before I actually start reading it.

I know that's asking for a lot, but if anyone could recommend a story that fits the bill I would be very grateful

I have the exact same complaints and I'm as picky as you are. I hope you enjoy these. The first is a nice short story and the second is a serial, about novel length, with an ending.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll look into them.

I experience the same sort of frustration and from the sounds of it my tastes are pretty similar to your own.

I would highly recommend Morpheus and The Professor over at fictionmania.

There was another story obrt yjrtr that I can't remember the name. I believe it was a novel length story about a boy who ran track and was somehow transformed into a girl. (it might have been due to a virus) Maybe someone else can remember the name.

Also since I can be a bit shameless sometimes ;)

I'd like to recommend a story of my own. It's called Incompatible: Birth of a Spellbinder and can be found at BigCloset TopShelf, Fictionmania and Tgstorytime. (Personally I recommend reading it on BC Topshelf since i like the site's format better.) I think it just might be up your alley. When I wrote it I was striving to make a story with a good plot and engaging characters. Hopefully, I succeeded. I'll let you be the judge. Assuming you decide to read it, of course.

Morpheus is one of my favorites! I don't know if I've read anything by the professor but I'll give him a shot.

That's okay daw I can be shameless sometimes too :P If the synopsis is any indicator your story sounds pretty interesting. I'll give it a try.

Holy crap you wrote a story in Morpheus's twisted universe! Awesomeness! :)

From: D.A.W. , 153 months, post #7
Virtually Twisted was my first attempt at a TG story and is fundamentally flawed. I like to think I did a better job with Incompatible, but I'm a bit biased.

For a Girl by O2bxx is what you're thinking of D.A.W. It's one of the best TG stories I've ever read. Morpheus and The Professor are also pretty reliable.

There's something I read a long time ago called Prisoners of Tiresias that may fit what you're looking for. I found a link here: http://gbindex.ssokolow.com/?story=139#details

DAW I read both of your stories and I must say there is a massive improvement with Incompatible. That's not to say I didn't enjoy Virtually Twisted, but it did suffer from a few shortcomings. Incompatible just blew me away with its pure awesomeness. I hope you finish the next story soon I can't wait to find out what happens next. I'll try and leave a review later on I have to get to work now.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Eric your list ought to keep my busy for quite a while, Thank you so much.

Any of AJ James stories at Fictionmania, they are all real good, he is one of the newer authors.

Some excellent suggestions so far, and they include most of those I'd have suggested off the top of my head. I think that many of my own stories on FictionMania (author name Blot) would qualify; the man becoming the woman typically does it willingly, though; in many cases a woman is in effect murdered so that he can assume her form.

I've only just found out about this author and haven't read any of his work yet, so can't promise anything. Seems like a legit sci-fi writer.

If anybody has read any of his stuff or knows where i can find it, that'd be great.

Read The Professors Ovid series. If you haven't, you're really missing out.

@ Stu Stanley thanks for the kind words. I'll be looking forward to your review.

Guyote,

Jack Chalker is a very good Author, he wrote a lot of transformation fiction. I've read everything he's published even the non-fiction stuff. It's all good. Check Amazon.com for availability.

Mr. Ram.

The Professor's "Delight of a Mean Spirit" was the first TG story I read and his quality of writing has been the standard. The Ovid series is very good but I would also recommend "The Question" "Delight of a M.S." and "The Former Boys Club"

From: kreplach , 153 months, post #20
I would recommend any of the stories on FM by AJ James . All of the stories by this very underrated author (in my opinion) have plots above and beyond the simple transformation. Two of my favorite are Eight Million Stories and The Long Strange Journey of Seth Gates .
