In the near future, a team is sent on a dangerous mission to Europa to retrieve and bring water back to a dying Earth. Their operation unexpectedly goes awry, jeopardizing not only the lives of those on board but also on earth, resulting in the possible extinction of the human race. One of the mai ...more |

what I find humorous is the lack of moderation. The moderators here
are getting worse and worse.

to create something we will never see from big studios I support
him and if I see his work posted anywhere I will let him know asap!

I'm not seeing the problem with asking to see a partial clip from a
full length film. That isn't "stealing".

"The moderators here are getting worse and worse."
You all just picked the wrong day. I was on vacation. :-)
"I'm an asshole for asking why theft is being justified?"
No, you're not. It is a reasonable question.
"my question is why is it ok to steal from other companies making
movies and media we like but not from mako? They are all
contributing to our likes and wants...guess i stated my question
wrong, what gives you right to steal from people who aren't members
of the community?"
It's not okay to steal, period. Feel free to check the site's FAQ's
. If you see a link that we miss, call us on it. We're only human,
and we're all volunteers here. As you've experienced, we're
sometimes too busy to keep an eye on everything, all the time. But
we do our best to keep everyone following the same rules.
That said, people will be people... and some people steal from
others, no matter what we do to try to prevent it.
You will also find that people, being people will also steal from a
stranger, but not a friend. Everyone sets their own ethical "bar".

I don't see a problem with asking to see a CLIP either. Though, we
should probably direct the request to Mako, since it is his baby.
He has a trailer up for it (or did have), a clip would be at his
discretion.

What if you steal from a bank? Is it really stealing since the
money is insured?

"What if you steal from a bank? Is it really stealing since the

I am not your ethics instructor. However, since you asked nicely...
Your very question indicates that stealing from a bank is
"stealing".
The fact that the monies are insured is irrelevant to the question
of whether the act of stealing would, in-fact, be considered
stealing. You are taking something that does not belong to you, has
not been offered to you, and that you have no intention of
returning... sounds like theft (stealing) to me.

@heynowsucks, You may wonder why the "attack" against you has not
been removed. We do not have line-editing available - so it was an
all or nothing decision. I choose to leave heynow's post up in it's
entirety as the lion's-share of the post was relavant to the
discussion and addressed the issue that seems to have caused your
rants in the first place.
Therefore, although a small part of the post was an "attack" (more
like retaliation), the main part of the post ADDED to the
discussion.
That said, this is a reminder... FOR EVERYONE:
From the Posting Guidelines:
"Please keep the conversations civil. Do not 'attack' other
posters."
"Be polite, courteous, and respectful."

Wow - it amazes me how ignorant people are becoming about
economics, return on investments and how a functional business
actually works. You copy 'Paradox Alice" you are denying Mako and
his hard working team not only of helping them pay off their
initial costs - but also for them investing in possible future
projects. Some people here are not all that bright.

By the way CJ - I see a personal attack against 'heynowsucks' but
yet you let that post stay. That's not being objective. That's
taking sides. Not a good sign of a moderator. Where did you learn
to become one? What eduction do you have to justify your logic?

From: cj

Guest (post 115). If you're referring to post #104, then my
previous post (# 113) lays out my reasoning. Post #104 adds to the
discussion primarily, and then descends into a personal,
retaliatory, attack. Most (or all) of "heynowsucks" posts were
nothing more than a personal attack - they did not add anything to
the discussion, they were simply attack posts.
If you're referring to another post, please list the post # and
I'll review it and give you my reasoning behind allowing it.
I'm sorry that you feel that I'm taking sides in that exchange - I
am NOT. If I had detailed post editing capabilities, the attack in
post # 104 would have been 86'd too. But that's not an option on
this site right now.
Your questioning my qualifications to be a moderator here may
demonstrate that you have a VERY limited view of my interactions
(and experience in moderating) here. As such, you should yield to
those who have more knowledge of my qualifications, and have made
and held that decision years ago.
As to education justifying logic. Show me the fault in my logic,
and we can discuss such things.

Not a problem Dale. That's why there are more than one of us. You
felt it warranted, and did what you thought correct. I'm leaving
the post deleted, since there were problems with me leaving it
posted. :-)
