Also, let's be honest, do you ask permission every time you get a
random photo on the internet and post on your Facebook or whatever?
You know you're technically violating that person's copyright? So
let's not be hypocrites, please.

Actually, the Wayback Machine respects copyright and responds to
requests to have content removed appropriately. So your argument is
made in ignorance.
What is the Wayback Machine's Copyright Policy?
The Internet Archive respects the intellectual property rights and
other proprietary rights of others. The Internet Archive may, in
appropriate circumstances and at its discretion, remove certain
content or disable access to content that appears to infringe the
copyright or other intellectual property rights of others. If you
believe that your copyright has been violated by material available
through the Internet Archive, please provide the Internet Archive
Copyright Agent with the following information:
Identification of the copyrighted work that you claim has been
infringed;
An exact description of where the material about which you complain
is located within the Internet Archive collections;
Your address, telephone number, and email address;
A statement by you that you have a good-faith belief that the
disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent,
or the law;
A statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above
information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner
of the copyright interest involved or are authorized to act on
behalf of that owner;
Your electronic or physical signature.

First, you're comparing a photo to stories, some of which took
months or years to complete, to an image snapped in a split second.
Second, where possible I do credit the original maker and if I can
I will even share their original post. So I do make a considered
effort to credit an image creator.
Third, I don't mind people downloading personal copies of my
stories for themselves. What I do mind is people hosting those
stories and sharing them all over the place without my permission.
I like to know where my works are being hosted. It helps prevent
theft.

Ditto. If I find that I don't like it being shared somewhere (for
whatever reason), I know exactly who to ask to have it removed.
Also, if I edit the story, I know that updating those known
locations gets the job done.
"do you ask permission every time you get a random photo on the

If that is so, the site where the copyrighted material is being
shared will generally remove such content upon request... unless
it's a disreputable site.
"it only search a copy of fictionmania database that I posted on
"post #25" on archive.org, it had zero access to FM servers."
Have you checked to see if that script abuses the archive.org
servers or policies?

Ugh, another internet mom. Noone actually follows copyright law to
the full extent. I would say that a person commits hundreds of
violations per day. Also when positing to fictionmania, who the
heck says that they only give permission to them?
