I just posted a cheer for the possibility of a Mexican Lalola a few
days ago, and now we have a chance to get a Peruvian one, too. Too
good to be true. I only hope the show is funny and sexy, like the
best ones were, and, alas, LOLA of Chile wasn't. The Peruvians must
have seen the Argentinian LLL in syndication. Instead of getting
sated, tho, it seems to have made them want one of their own. Great
news, Saint.

I agree Tamerlaine that this is good news. I do disagree that Lola
Chile was not funny or sexy. I thought it was a different take on
the plot, the body swap issue was front and center the ENTIRE
series, and although Blanca Lewin was forced to dress more
conservative than other Lolas, she is a very beautiful woman. It
may just have to do with what type of TG/Bodyswap plots people
like. I think it would be interesting to swap for the experience,
but wouldn't want to stay that way. I would fight like Lola Chile
to get back if I could, so maybe that's why I prefer that series
theme. Others may like the other version of LaLola better for the
opposite reasons. I hope the Peru version is more like Chile's, or
else we will probably have the exact same series, just with
different actors, that we had in Spain, Argentina, Grrece, Turkey
etc. where the episodes were produced exactly the same.

Why was Blanca Lewin forced to dressed in dress pants a lot in the
Chile Lola? I never understood that. Why would it have been so bad
if she had been in skirts and dresses more often in the show? I
liked it that that Lola fought the change and wanted to become male
but it sucked that she wasn't allowed to be sexy in her female
body. I think a weakness of the Lalola series is that they are very
predictable.

Guest, apparently the Catholic church has a say in what is
broadcast on Canal 13, which broadcasted Lola. They agreed to air
the "controversial" subject matter, but kept Blanca Lewin covered
up for most of the show. There were a few episodes where she was
able to show off her looks, and a few where she was in dresses and
those are my favorites. I agree with you on LaLola, everyone is
excited over a new series which will probably be nearly identical
episode to episode as several other countries which I think is
unfortunate. Maybe Peruvians are as innovative as Chileans and will
put a new twist on the theme? Let's hope!

I don't see how a woman wearing a dress or skirt is controversial.
It's weird but maybe a cultural difference. I thought it was funny
when the Chile Lola wore dresses and skirts because he hated
wearing them and felt like a piece of meat.

There was a behind the scenes video on youtube last night but I've
tried searching for it and haven't found it again. Going on
previous Lalolas and what I saw in the video, it looked like they
were shooting the episode where Lola tries to stop the magazine
from printing the magazine that has her on the cover. I'm guessing
this Lalola will follow the script. I bet he stays in the woman's
body.

If you have a user name you should check your video viewing history
on youtube. Should be there.

I really hope this isn't predictable like the other ones.

It's a remake. By very definition it is predictable. That's like
going into a McDonalds in another country and hoping that the food
doesn't taste the same. Sure, they might put mayonnaise on the
burger but it's the same damn ingredients.

I think predictable is the body swap-everything else is up to the
producers, writers, etc. Obviously, the show is new to Peru and not
to those of us who have been following the show online in its
various incarnations and are wishing something different.

Guest, post #9, I agree wtih Robbie and Guest 2. I have never
encountered a Lalola version in a language I understand, so I'm
still not jaded on the established storyline. .
In all fairness, if a production company promises to do "Lalola"
they shouldn't do something entirely different, because that would
be untruth in promotion. Lalola is a particular story, as is Monte
Cristo and Treasure Island. For a Spanish audience (that already
has had 3 shows) it might make sense to play with some plot
elements (a different sort of job for Lola, a group of supporting
characters that don't closely parallel the original's). But the
basic theme of Lalola is what makes LLL popular. It's not just a
generic tg shows; I personally have seen many tg shows
(particularlly Japanese) so boring and pointless I'm glad when they
are over.
But Lalola is not boring or pointless. The winning core plot of
Lalola is that a very masculine man, without wanting to, learns
intimately how a woman lives while he himself experiences a woman's
inner life and emotions. She finds that this new life has interests
and pleasures of its own and, in her own circumstances, it makes
for a better life than the one she has known, and so, ultimately,
she prefers to keep this new life. We have every reason to think it
might be a happy life for her, because she is accepting life's
problems and challenges with a good attitude. "Ele E Ela" did not
do the core plot, did something not as good, and so it lasted only
28 shows instead of 148, as in Argentian. (Currently the Russian
"Margosha" has had 217 shows and I don't think it is over yet).

A lot of people seem to like the Chilean LOLA. But where have
people seen it? All the fans can't be from Chile. I've gotten into
Lalola fandom rather late and I can't find much of anything on the
net. There's just a couple episodes at YouTube, and some clips. Is
there any place to sample more of this series? Or has it been
entirely shut down, like Lola of Greece seems to have only dead
links left. The Greek broadcaster, Ant1 has its own site with all
the shows to stream, but they reject attempts to join (or even to
write to them) from outside Europe. Isn't that a brilliant way to
make themselves rich and do something for the sinking Greek
economy? Oh, and just to keep this on theme, I'm excitedly waiting
for the arrival of the Peruvian Lalola. Is it going to be called
"Lalola"?

Some people like the Chile Lola because he fights the
transformation and never falls in love with a man. He wants his
penis back.

Canal 13, the network that broadcasted Lola in Chile, has a website
where you can view 5 minute clips of every episode.

Thanks, Robbie. I just visited it. No translation is possible. Is
it a membership site that lets one join and see complete shows? (I
know that Memocast is a member site handling MARGOSHA. It lets you
see 5 minutes free and whole shows if you join. Alas, I haven't
joined because they don't seem to offer English subs and one can't
get much out of a foreign language show.)
