I know he wants to make BATTLE ANGEL into a movie. It's based on
the manga/anime. Dark and cool story IMO.

Just remember folks it's just a movie. It's not something that
actually matters in real life. If you don't like it the solution is
simple. Don't watch it.

yes -- if you didn't enjoy the movie, just get into your time
machine go back 3 hours and unwatch it.

i saw the movie, in 3D. it wasn't a waste of time, but i didn't
have the religious/orgasmic experience that the fans of the flick
on this MSG Board (and other places) seem to have had.
about "gaping plot holes" i will say that, driving home, all i

Why would they nuke a planet that they have to remove resources
from? The unobtanium would be radioactive.

I don't know. Even with the obvious plot appeal, I just can't drag
myself to go and see it. Something about it just doesn't grab me
like some other Cameron films did.

Guess you weren't a cold-war kid?
Look up "air burst" and "enhanced radiation warhead". Read up the
detonation of the Fat Man bomb over Nagasaki. Doomsday happens when
you detonate hundreds or thousands of thermonuclear devices (fusion
bombs) at once. Setting off a few tactical nukes would just be an
efficient method of getting the trees and animals out of the way of
the mining operation.
Evolved on a moon in orbit around a jovian primary, I am guessing
that the lifeforms on Pandora would probably be pretty resistant to
ionizing radiation, but we know the vegetation will burn. A few
kiloton-range fission devices, detonated at about 1000m would
remove the indigenes without appreciably raising the background
radiation levels.
Dirt is also a pretty good shield against neutrons flux -- chances
are that very little of the unobtainite would be affected.

But the navi were all over the small moon. They would need multiple
devices to remove all of the navi which could, due to the planet's
small size could have negative effects

This also raises the question, will the humans return? Jake said
the economy was poor and they could have a similar situation to
today's space program. Would it be necesary? I guess we'll all find
out what will happen eventually.
P.S. Does anyone have any clue what the next one will be about? I'd
like to see the dying earth personally

Personally, I figure it's a victory for Jake and all them... until
the next group of people arrive and just nuke all the blue
smurfy-cats out of existence never leaving orbit and take all the
Unobtainium they want.

I finally saw it. It was sorta like Dances with Wolves meets Moses
in a video game. But honestly? Even though the visuals were
stunning the movie itself wasn't all that interesting. I could have
had a better time with a movie that was less full of itself
technically that had a better story.
My 2 cents and about all it's worth.
