I think this series is based , lousy , on an old book from the 40's
or the 50's . I might be wrong , but I think a movie was made , too

You might be thinking of John Wyndham's novels, The Chrysalids or
The Midwich Cuckoos. The themes are definitely similar, though the
series is much more straightforwardly teen-superheroic.

aLL 8 seasons are out on 3 dvd sets!
there are also about 8 radio style drama with new stories based on
the old series.
and in the 90's there was a shortlived series featuring a new
generation of 'tomorrow people!
as for books, there were 2 or 3 episode novelizations that pop up
on ebay occasionally.
(none of which are to be confused with a novel and movie made from
the novel with the similar name in the seventies starring william
shatner and kim darby)

Also, Big Finish(makers of Doctor Who original audio dramas) have a
line up of
Tomorrow People audio dramas(as well as others). I havn't heard
any, but the Doctor Who
ones are pretty good.
