Brazilian FOX is making a TV show called "Se Eu Fosse Voc�" or in
English "If I Were You".

It's about a divorce lawyer and a therapist that don't get along,
until they swap bodies.
Unlike the movie with the same name, they are not married, which in
my opinion makes the show more interesting. We'll see.
It starts October 16th.

I wish I understood portuguese. Them not being married is
intriguing (hopefully they are not a couple at all) as it limit
s the usual "bodyswapped couple tied together with each other"
angle.

About the series
translated description from the site...
Hector is a celebrity divorce lawyer. Clarice is a holistic
therapist that helps its customers to integrate. The two, who never
really got along, now need to share the same workspace. To make
matters worse, one night, the two drink too much and spend the
night together-to discover the next day that they magically changed
bodies. They need to learn to deal with the unknown, as they try to
find out one way to solve the problem-all this without your
customers finding out.

The plot seems to be firmly derivative of Turnabout. That's not
bad; even Lalola was a magical shape-exchange. But Lalola focused
on Lola and knocked off (improved upon) Switch, which was a
derivative of Goodbye Charlie. The GC model has mostly replaced the
Turnabout idea, i.e. a focus on just one character. If two are
involved, I agree that is is best to have the switch between casual
acquaintances, or even enemies or strangers. (Though the
pessimistic Boy Meets Girl made a mess of the latter idea). The
unfortunate thing about an exchange plot is that a lot of time has
to be given to the woman-as a-man, which some find uninteresting.
My preferred ending for such a story would be they stay switched
and end up loving two different people, not each other. It's
interesting that Brazil would try this when didn't do their own
Lalola. I wonder if it is a knock-off. An international success
like LLL should have spawned many knock-offs.

I really want to see this. I agree it's better that they are not
husband and wife and I'm curious if there is a transformation like
in "Dating the Enemy".
I agree with Karma and would love it if it ended with them stuck
and in love with with other people.

The Canal Fox site has a preview for the show but I'm pretty sure
you have to be in Brazil to view it. I don't speak Portuguese but
every time I tried to watched it, it would show some message on the
screen and not play it. There are also some photos on that site and
you can see those without restrictions.

I hope they focus more in the exploration and in the peculiarities
of the male/female roles and predicaments than in the comedy
stuff... we have too much of that already... and the movie is
exactly that, a silly comedy where the TG is just a detail... they
never explore or look realistic in their new male/female roles,
although the actors are really good (very famous in Brazil, either
those in the movie or the series)

I'm trying to find it, but since it has the same name as the movie,
Google keeps pointing me to places to download the movie...
I'll let you guys know if I find anything (with no direct linksm of
course).

I agree, gallux. I've seen very few mainstream TG works that
actually take their premises seriously and focus on what it would
actually mean to switch bodies or change gender. I'd love to see a
series that really explored that in depth.
