This is one of those movie questions that I'm going off of memory, but its a few years ago and a little hazy on facts. not sure of year, so it could be old or new. I believe it is a foreign film.

The movie has a young gentleman (around college age) that is gay, however he wants to have SRS surgery to become a female.
He has two main friends... one male and one female.

So he decides to go through with the operation. His reluctant mother supports him and while talking through pre-operation he is getting ready for the change.
You then see either he goes through the operation or he backed out at the last minute.

Through the rest of the movie, you see his character go back-and-forth between being seen by everyone as both male and female. Example - talking to a guy in a bar... he walks over as a man, starts talking to him...The camera goes back-and-forth between characters and one moment our character is talking to him as a man, then a few minutes later you see him as a woman.... and back and forth why still in bar and no one sees this.

As time goes by, his friends don't like what he has become.

At the end of the movie... you go back to the pre-op. I guess the whole previous 45 minutes was just a dream. He then has to decide is he still going through with it or not.
I can't remember if he moves forward or not... but that is basically the end of the movie.

Long -not really a lot of clues to help.
Not even a true M2F; F2M as no one sees him changing sex.

If you know what it is, please let me know. Again I believe it is a foreign film that is a little older (maybe 90's or 2000's)

You might be thinking of the indie film Pulse. IIRC it was Australian and released in 2017, memory's hazy though
