Description
Alan Alda's character is a music journalist whose career as a piano
player came to an end when his debut concert received undeservedly
scathing reviews.
Spoilers Duncan Ely is a older, rich man who befriends Myles (Alan Alda).
Duncan Ely is a former famous piano player. He has a daughter,
Roxanne. Duncan and Roxanne are actually "satanists". Duncan and
Roxanne perform a ritual during Ducan's death and he wakes up in
Myles body. Myles soul is gone now. Myles (Duncan) returns home to
his wife Paula. He sleeps with Paula, mysteriously inherits a ton
of money from Duncan, and is offered a National Tour for playing
the Piano.
Later, after Paula starts to unravel the mystery of why her husband
is acting so strange and seems to be extremely drawn to Roxanne.
Turns out several years ago, Mrs. Ely died the same day Roxanne had
a miscarriage "while wondering the woods". Roxanne was married but
divorced after the incident. They don't come out and say it but
Roxanne was replaced by Mrs. Ely. Eventually Paula decides she
wants to be with Myles (or whatever version he is) now matter what.
She makes a deal with the devil and then does the same ritual to
possess Roxanne. End of the film she's embracing Myles with her new
body.
Well done movie.
