Description
"Afterimage Aftershock" is actually a pair of novels about a
mysterious clan of shapechangers who live in the mountains above
Santa Cruz, California. They change shape involuntarily whenever a
violent death occurs nearby, usually to different person of the
same gender. In the first novel, however, one of the shapeshifters
uses magic to turn a normal human woman into the double of a man
who raped her and tried to burn her alive. The story focuses on her
attempts to transform back into her true form.
