Description
In the beginning of the story, a strange black bird is caught for a
present by Jock (a kind of Halfling).
It turns out, that the bird is a young girl, who used the magic
"transforming stone" to become a bird, while all the others in her
tribe changed into trees like they do every year. But after they
changed, the stone has been stolen and they can't change back
without it. So the bird-girl searches help to get the stone back.
Jock and his friends make a long journey to help the girl. At the
end of the story Jock is turning slowly into a dog by using one of
the found transforming stones - well, not forever, but for a little
while...
