Description
Tom Terrific was a small boy who lived in a treehouse with his
faithful but sleepy sidekick, Mighty Manfred the Wonderdog. Tom
wore a funnel-shaped magic thinking-cap, which allowed him to
transform himself into any shape at will, as well as facilitate his
brilliant problem-solving. Tom�s arch-villain was Crabby Appleton,
who was �rotten to the core.�
The minimalist black-and-white cartoon was created by Gene Deitch
at Terrytoons. All the voices were supplied by Lionel Wilson.
Between 1957 - 1959 Tom Terrific was featured on CBS�s Captain
Kangaroo show. There was a new story arc each week of five 5-minute
episodes. There were 26 adventures altogether. After 1959 the
series was put into syndication.
Between 1957 - 1958 there were six comic books published, with some
of the stories drawn by Ralph Bakshi. There were also a few Wonder
Books (a subsidiary of Little Golden Books).
