Description
In this homage and tribute to the original Universal Movie
Monsters, we see Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) as a monster hunter,
working for the Vatican.
At the start of the movie, we see Victor Frankenstein create his
monster, and we learn that it was always Count Vladislaus Dracula
(Richard Roxburgh) plan to use this monster for his own purposes.
Dracula morphs a few times into his large winged bat form, and
regenerates himself when he is thrown into a fire.
One year later, we move to Van Helsing and he is facing Mr. Hyde.
After a battle, Van Helsing bests Mr. Hyde and upon his death, he
reverts back to Dr. Jekyll.
Later in the film, Van Helsing ends up in Romania on the hunt for
Dracula. He encounters Anna Valerious (Kate Beckinsale) and they
are attacked by the brides of Dracula Aleera (Elena Anaya) Verona
(Silvia Colloca), and Marishka (Josie Maran). They appear as
scrawny winged female vampires who can change into beautiful human
form.
We later see a werewolf attack the Valerious house, but when the
moon is covered, it is revealed to be Velkan Valarious (Will Kemp),
Anna's brother. He morphs back and forth several times until the
curse locks in that night. He changes back to human form, like Mr.
Hyde later in the film when he is killed. Before his death, he
bites Van Helsing, infecting him with the were curse.
To get Anna back, Van Helsing must meet with Dracula on Halloween.
At the Ball, as they are about to leave, it is revealed that
everyone in attendance is actually a vampire, and they all change
into their large bat forms to go after the heroes.
In the final battle with Dracula, at the stroke of 12, Van Helsing
changes form into a huge were wolf, and the final strike is a bite
that infects Dracula who morphs into a vampire/werewolf hybrid and
quickly dies. A cure is used to restore Van Helsing.
