Game System: NES, SNES
==Description==
Mendel Palace (known as Quinty in Japan) is the first game developed by Game Freak, who would later develop the Pokemon Franchise. You control Bon-Bon, who must take advantage of the game's 7 x 5 grids to defeat an army of life-sized dolls to rescue your friend Candy.
As a twist to the regular gameplay, there is usually a boss fight every 10 stages. A few have Bon-Bon directly confront a witch (again, known as Quinty in Japan), who makes Bon-Bon's job much easier or harder with her transformation magic. Notable transformations include the female Mira, who mimics Bon-Bon's actions, the immense Sumo, whose powerful stomps defeat the witch practically be default, and the useless Moko-Moko, an alien wearing a tie who can only walk around helplessly while trying to avoid the witch's attacks.
Mendel Palace and Quinty were both moderate successes, and it turns out a remake for the Super Famicom (Japanese Super Nintendo) was in the works that was publicly unknown until a Gamefreak data leak in October 2024. While the boss battles are quite a bit different in certain prototype builds, at least the March 1999 build appears to recreate the transformation battles from the original game.
